Interview with Jonathan Teasdale
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog for the sound, digital for the flexibility
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Everything
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: As many as it takes to figure out exactly what they're looking for
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie, rock, alternative, electronic
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Generating ideas
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Passion and dedication
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If I am doing a full production project for a client I usually start with a vocal recording they have sent me. I then generate a few different ideas for the instrumental portion of their song, and send it back to them. Once we have decided on the general track idea (melodies, chord progressions, types/amount of insturments, arrangement, etc) I then go and record and produce the full instrumental, which typically consist of at least one guitar, a bass guitar, drums, and sometime keyboard/synths. After sending the production back and forth to the client we decide on the final touches, and then I finalize the mix and finally master the track.
