I am an award-nominated producer and mix engineer (formerly MTR Studios) with 20 years in Rock and Metal.
My background includes work with Tank, Paul Di'Anno (ex-Iron Maiden), and In Search Of Sun. My productions have been mixed and mastered by the likes of Nolly Getgood and Michael Wagener — and I bring that same standard of quality to every project I take on.
I specialise in high-end mixing and mastering, focusing on the clarity and power modern records demand. Based in London and working with bands worldwide, I provide the human, emotional perspective delivering a professional, release-ready sound. Let’s make your record sound massive.

Interview with Phil Kinman | Mixing & Masteri
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My background comes from actively working in the music industry for over 16 years. As a lead guitarist and founding member of several successful bands, I have composed, recorded, toured and released music internationally. I have shared the stage with many bands such as Bullet for My Valentine, Europe and Bring Me The Horizon (to name a few) as well as playing Download and Sonisphere music festivals. After engineering a series of projects my interest in music production developed into a passion and I made the transition to record production and mixing in 2010.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I pride myself on hard work, I'm 100% committed to every band and artist I work with. Having worked as a musician and as a audio engineer I am able to relate to and understand the needs of an artist during the creative process. I feel this is something that can only be acquired through experience, which I find invaluable.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I own and operate from MTR Studios which is a purpose built facility situated in a quiet residential area of North West London, UK. The Studio includes a spacious Control Room and Live room, spanning over 80 square meters.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a big fan of BIG sounding records, I was really inspired by Bob Rock and Randy Staub's work throughout the 80's and 90's. I'm also a big Terry Date fan along with Michael Wagener who I recently worked with on the latest 'I AM I' EP.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Whether it's a one track single or full album project I cater for all artists from all genres. I deliver awesome, release-ready productions, mixes and masters. I'm also a specialist in audio restoration and post production/editing.
