I have more than 8 years of professional experience working in the music industry, producing and writing for artists such as Cheat Codes, Moneybagg Yo, Lee Brice, Lindsay Ell, NoCap, LovelyTheBand and more! One thing that I think sets me apart is that I work very comfortably across MANY different genres of music.
Hi! My name is Corey Blount, better known in the music industry as "BLOUNT". I'm a producer, songwriter, engineer, singer and artist! I believe I bring a lot to the table for the community here at SoundBetter to help people create the songs and tracks they have always wanted.
My primary services to offer are producing tracks/beats, writing songs (both lyrics and melody), mixing and even additional vocals if needed. Even though I have a pretty wide overall range of skills, I would say my absolute specializations are production and songwriting, especially in the realms of Hip-Hop and Pop music. I have more than 8 years of professional experience in the music industry, much of which have been spent working behind the scenes with many of the world's best artists, producers, songwriters, engineers, record labels, A&Rs, and more.
Why hire me you may ask? I work hard, smart and fast, but I will NEVER sacrifice the quality of the music for speed. Quality will ALWAYS be a main priority! I promise to always put my best foot forward and give my best effort for each and every client. I will do the best I can to use all of the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years to deliver an amazing product to my clients. When you work with me, you are the priority and my goal is to get you exactly what you want, every time.

Interview with BLOUNT
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A recent project that I have worked on is a single by LovelyTheBand called "Sail Away". I'm particularly proud of this song for a few reasons. One, I not only both produced and wrote on the song, but I also sang background vocals on the song! So it's really cool to be involved in so many different aspects of this record. Two, "Sail Away" is the first major release that I've been a part of in the alternative genre, so it really expands my catalog in a great way, I think. Three, I did the skeleton for this song 3 years before its release. So to have LovelyTheBand start recording it 2 years after I did the skeleton and release it 3 years after I initially made the idea, it's just amazing to me and a process that I'm really proud of. Sometimes things can take time in this business but trust me everyone, your catalog is VALUABLE!!!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to work hard, work smart, work honestly and to always give my best! When I'm hired by a client for a song, their needs and wants are 100% my main priority.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The process of starting with absolutely nothing and at the end of it having a complete song! When you look back over the entire process of songs, especially those that may have taken lots of hard work and a long time to finish, it's such a fulfilling moment when you have a final product that you are satisfied with. And let's not forget that it's even better when that final product is enjoyed by lots of people!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Drake because I think even though he has his stapled sound in Hip-Hop, he also has branched out to a variety of other genres and sounds as well and has done so amazingly. I think creatively it would be such a unique experience to work with him.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I can think of so many people that inspire me, but I'll just give a top 3. Kanye West, Max Martin, and believe it or not, my dad! haha.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Some cool things that I am working on at the moment are music for a soon to air WeTV show called "Kold & Windy" and also placing various songs for Netflix shows.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: The first people that come to mind are Mickey Shiloh, JVZEL and Baer. They are great friends of mine but also AMAZINGLY talented! They are some of the best people I know and I wouldn't have any problems sending literally anybody their way.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. They both offer their own unique sounds and textures. When used correctly, they both can sound amazing!!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I'm a very easy person to work with. All I ask for is to be very clear about what you would want from me!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer, microphone, audio interface, headphones, external hard drive.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: One huge music production tip and of the most overlooked things in music production in my opinion is organizing and labeling your sessions. Trust me, I of all people know how big of a difference this makes. I was once one of those people where my sessions were all over the place! When things are organized (for example, grouping and color coding your vocals, drums, instruments, etc.) moving through your sessions and the process of creating goes so much faster, which is always a good thing!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on so many different types of music all the time, but I would say the two genres I work in the most are Hip-Hop and Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say my strongest skill overall is being able to comfortably create many different genres of music. And that includes both producing and writing!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring years of experience from working with some of the top music professionals around the world, a great ear for hit songs, a wide range of skills and most of all, good energy!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It honestly varies from song to song. Some songs and tracks I start from scratch completely by myself, while other times I may be brought a song that has already been started and the client wants me to add to it or finish it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use a fairly simple home studio setup, but I have everything that literally anybody would need to make professional sounding, radio-ready records. My computer is a macbookpro, I have Yamaha HS8 studio monitors, an Audio-Technica AT3035 microphone, Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80ohm headphones, an SSL2+ audio interface, a nice music production desk, some sound treatment for the room and that's pretty much it! The vast majority of my work starts and finishes with this setup.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common types of work that I do for clients are production/beat making, songwriting and mixing.
