Interview with Prod by Nasound

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: there are several for which I have enormous affection, but there is one that marked me a lot and it was for the International Society of Blood Transfusion, in a worldwide promotion campaign last year. I did the music production and mixing. It was a great cause and a pride to be part of the project.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now I'm working on the mix of several beats that will be released soon and on the creation of several Lo-Fi remixes for a personal project.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not at the moment, but surely soon, there is a lot of talent here...

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: It is a silly discussion for me because both have their own thing, but in my case always digital, since technology is created by us to serve us and today having the tools you need in your backpack is the best and especially when you are a nomad digital like me

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: improve your sound, increase your fans, live from your creation

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The freedom, to be able to create is to be free, there are no more words, that says it all

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: 1. What do I need to send you for my song to be mixed? I will need the stems of your project. 2. How can I best prepare my stems for mixing? For best results, please prepare your stems without any processing/panning at 44.1 24 bit WAV. If there are any effects (e.g. reverbs/ amp simulations/ auto-tune) that you are particularly attached to 3. Can you offer me a package deal if I have more than one song? Of course! 4. Where can I find more of your work? Ask me for more samples! Chances are I have produced and mixed something in a similar style.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: it's very funny because some artists believe that the mixing engineer can turn a bad creation into a world hit

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What exactly do you need, in how much time, how much is your budget? that's usually

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: It may sound funny, but know what you want to convey with the music and the main objective for the project you want to carry out

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: ...is easy for me because I am a minimalist, it would be my laptop, my headphones, my microphone and my camera.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started more than 12 years ago writing and rapping when I was just a kid and I did it just for fun with my school friends, with time this intern grew more and more, to the point of turning my life upside down and making me jump into music and its magical vertigos.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: it is difficult to define oneself, but I think daring, rebellious, exotic and naturally wild.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: there are many, but right now if I had to choose one, it would be FKJ, basically because he is a crazy genius and I love that; learning is always an obsession for me.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Of course, especially to younger producers and even artists, what I would tell them as a fundamental basis for all of this is to worry first about looking inside themselves for what shines and what they want to share with the world, then focus on the emotion first and then on the technical details of the sound; if the basis are solid, the rest flows naturally.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Hip Hop, Chill Vibes, Lo-Fi, R&B

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Well, Beat Making and Mixing is what I usually stand out for; although I am also an artist and my facet as a Rapper is something that I have been perfecting for even more years.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: The most important thing I bring to a song is to enhance the main emotion that the artist or the brand is trying to convey. That's always the most important thing and what sets me different from most producers who get lost showing off their expensive equipment and thousand-dollar plugins.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My work process is usually very smooth and easy to manage: The first thing is to talk to my clients about the emotion they are looking to convey, the style and the objective and from there I start creating, whether it's the beat, the mix or the master. Depending on the need

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I really like to work light and my lifestyle is very minimalistic because I'm always traveling and moving around; my setup consists of my laptop (macbook pro) my DAW (logic Pro) MiniLab Mk II, Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, RØDE NT1-A, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, Izotope, Waves, Fabfilter Plugins. I don't need more, the most important tool is knowledge; that's the way it has been and that's the way it will be.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: About musical influences, I could tell you a lot and I would lack time, but in summary my artistic vision has been marked by great creators, writers and legends such as: Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Bob Marley, Celia Cruz, Hector Lavoe, Ismael Rivera, Sergio Mendes, J Dilla and Rakim; passing through authors such as: Mario Mendoza, Eduardo Galeano, Steven Pressfield, Miguel Hernandez and Mario Bennedeti, among many others; to contemporary exponents such as: Sharif Fernandez, Rapsusklei, El B, Nach, FKJ, UMI, Nanpa Basico, Nicolai Fella and Alí AKA Mind, among many more.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most of the work I do for my clients is usually the production of Hip Hop beats, Chill Vibes, Lo-Fi and R&B which are the rhythms in which I specialize and I also usually make many mixes, both for artists and for commercial brands and advertising spots.
