Deescha on SoundBetter

Experienced and versatile vocalist and songwriter covering a wide array of genres from R&B and Pop to House, Amapiano and Afrobeats.

Hey! I'm Deescha, a 23 year old vocalist/songwriter/topliner from the South of England. I studied music at university and have been writing music for almost 10 years. I have written for myself as well as for a number of other producers, specialising in R&B and Neo-Soul but also competent in Pop, House, LoFi, Amapiano and Afrobeat styles. Let me know your vision and we can work together to create the exact sound and feel that you're looking for.

I record everything from home using a Rhode NT2-A microphone on Logic Pro X. I do not mix or master the vocals myself.

For more examples of my work (eg. my House and Amapiano style tracks), I will be happy to send those via email.

I am open to collaborations and featuring but please ask permission to use my name on the tracks.

Please note: My usual rates are generally much higher, but I am offering low prices on SoundBetter as my profile here is still new. Get in touch now whilst my prices are still low and let's make some great music!

Interview with Deescha

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: Playing back the final master of a song you've been working on and saying "We made that!"

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: I would love to work with Mac Ayres because our styles and vocal tones are very similar.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: My promise to my clients is that you are satisfied with the end result. This is why I allow 2 free rounds of small revisions. I promise to always produce the best work that I can, and I will never send back anything I believe to be mediocre. If I feel I am not able to produce my best work for your track or that my style does not match with yours, I will let you know within 1 day of you sending the track and you will not be charged.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: My main questions for my clients are: - What overall vibe/feel are you aiming for with this song? - Do you have a reference track? - Do you have a particular structure you would like me to follow? I so, please provide time stamps for these.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: I always advise my clients who are using my services to purchase the harmony arrangements for a small extra fee. A song may sound incomplete and flat without harmonies as they add flavour and depth to the song. The way I approach harmonies is different for every track that I work on and I really do put a lot of thought into how they sound.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I have been singing since the age of 12 and have been writing music for around 10 years as a hobby. I have done many collaborations and worked with a number of different producers during this time but have only begun charging for my services within the past year.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My style is laid-back R&B with catchy, memorable choruses. Being a versatile singer who writes in many genres however, my style is not static and I always try to mould my sound to complement the track I am working on.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: I specialise in R&B, Neo-Soul and Afrobeat tracks. I have also written House, Pop, Lofi and Amapiano songs for other producers.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: My strongest skill is the melodic element of my songwriting as well as harmony arrangements. Learning to write and play music from such a young age has made me understand the

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: I listen to the track a few times to get the feel for it. After that, I'll go into Logic and start writing. The way I write always begins with melody first and I will improvise over the track until I get something I like. After that, lyrics will follow. Depending on how well-suited the track is to my writing style, I can complete a whole song anywhere between a few hours and 2 weeks.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I record everything from home using my Rode NT-2A Microphone plugged into my Scarlett 2i2 interface, tracking my vocals in Logic Pro X. I find this setup works best for me, but if someone specifically asks for that 'studio' sound, I have easy access to a number of studios.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I am inspired by every artist that I listen to as I learn something different from each of them. I would say in terms of production and vocal arranging (and work ethic!), I am deeply inspired by Jacob Collier. With songwriting and production, Bruno Mars and D'Mile have inspired me for as long as I can remember.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: The most common work I do is songwriting (melody and lyrics) for producers and providing the vocals for these songs. I also write and arrange harmonies for other artists and provide the vocals for these too.
