I have worked with Jeff Hill for twenty-six years and counting. Jeff is a great bass player. But it's his ability to find just the right bass line for a situation that sets him apart. Yes, he's great at engineering and mixing. But it's his ability to find just the right combination and balance of sounds that makes him special. As a bass player he is always in the moment and completely present. Add to all of this that he's a wonderful person with a big heart who is a lot of fun to be around. I can't recommend Jeff highly enough.

Jeff is great to work with. He’s a real pro with endless experience across a wide range of music styles. And, importantly for me, he thinks about the tracking from a sophisticated songwriting and production perspective - He’s always doing what’s right for the song. His playing is always super thoughtful, creative, musical, tasteful, and of course in time and with great tone. And as Neal Casal once told me, “Jeff rips”. I guess that sums it up. I highly recommend Jeff.

Jeff is one of those rare musicians that can play in any genre - he’s got a great sense of harmony for his bass parts and really all parts of a song, and sonically as an engineer/mixer his mixes always sound warm and inviting. He’s also super easy to work with, and willing to go the extra mile to make sure the mix sounds great. I’m now on my 4th record with working with Jeff as a co-producer (and on bass) and we’ve recorded / mixed everything from string quartets, timpani and French horns to loops and distorted electrics. Highly recommend!

I needed upright bass to a jazzy ballad, and Jeff absolutely nailed the part. His playing is unbeliavably musical! While paying close attention to my suggestions, he also added his own thing to the song - making it a stellar performance! A really nice guy to communicate with, and a true professional. Jeff also mixed the song, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
I highly recommend Jeff for both bass playing and mixing, and will certainly work with him again.
