Interview with Elliott Dawes

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: First I would decide on what style I'm going for depending on what I go for will impact what chord progression and key I will use for a track, next I would start to lay down some simple triads on a piano and would then slowly start to add to it by adding chord extensions and inversions I will then add a melody on top and start the sound selection process where I will start layer different sound to the newly create composition. Next I add drums and a bass, then structure and arrange the track and finally mix and master the track.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: Currently my setup is pretty small I'm currently working in two daws, FL studio for production work and pro tools for mixing work I use audio technica ath-m40x headphones, Casio CT-X700 keyboard, Stratocaster guitar and Behringer UM2 interface.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: I'm am heavily inspired by this new age of trap producers that are starting to emerge in LA, Anyone from the internet money group inspires me one way or another.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I will most commonly do production work fitted to a brief that I was sent.
