Interview with CRS Audio

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both! Why choose just one when you can have the best of both worlds!

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: To treat your art as it were our own

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Being a part of creating new art that has the potential to impact the quality of life for others

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Have a clear idea of what you are looking for but be willing to be open to new ideas when they arise.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: Started as a percussionist at the age of 9, progressed to full drummer, then writer then touring artist then live audio engineer to studio engineer to studio designer to studio owner and engineer.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Take your time. When bouncing a final track for a client, stand up and walk into the other room to pour coffee (or some other task while listening to the playback. There is no better way to create a fresh perspective than to listen from another room all together towards the end of the project.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: All genres though orchestral, rock, blues and country projects seem to find their way to us more often than others.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Listening and creative thinking

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: A different perspective. We do not follow trends, though we are always willing to learn from them. Our approach is to treat every project as its own. We do not do paint by numbers.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: Discussing the project and expectations of the artist is first and foremost when starting a project. Then, we use our decades of experience to approach the workflow to balance efficiency and audio fidelity.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: Adam SH3 pair powered by Antelope clocking and conversion. 64channels of I/0. The studio is divided into 3 different levels. The main control room is one of the largest in the world.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: Writing, production, recording, dubbing and mixing.
