bancheck on SoundBetter

I'm a 21 year old Audio Engineer who has been doing this for around 4 years. So far, I've worked on 200+ songs total. Mostly I do Vocal Mixing & Mastering, for a (somewhat) niche genre called "Hyperpop" and other genres such as Rap, Trap, Rage, etc.

I started out as a hobbyist, experimenting with different software, plugins and techniques until I found my own unique style. Today, I've developed a keen ear for sound and a deep understanding for mixing and mastering music.
I have a deep passion for music and I am very dedicated to my craft, trying to become better with each day.

In addition to my technical skills, I would say I'm also known for my professionalism, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. I always take the time to listen to my clients' needs and desires, and I work closely with them to achieve the sound and feel they're looking for in their recordings/files. Whether I'm working on a single track or an entire EP/album, my goal is to always exceed my clients' expectations.

My standard rate for Vocal Mixing is $15-35 per mix, but the price may vary depending on the complexity of the project. The more complex the project, the more time it takes. I'm happy to provide an estimate based on the specifics of your project, and I'm always transparent about my pricing and how it's calculated.

My standard rate for Mastering is $5 per master.

Worked with him twice now, incredible work both times. The attention to detail and quality of work is unparalleled by anybody else in this price range, he should be charging at least $50 for this kind of service! Even if you don't like the end result, he's incredibly cooperative and delivers revisions about as fast as you ask for them. Overall, great seller, would buy again any day of the week!

Interview with bancheck

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: My typical work process involves first getting to know the artist and their vision for the recording. From there, I'll listen to each track carefully and start making decisions about levels, panning, and tonal shaping. I'll then begin to add effects like compression, surgical/additive EQ, and reverb to create a cohesive sound. Throughout the process, I stay in close communication with the artist, sending them drafts and getting their feedback to make sure that I'm on the right track. Once we're both happy and satisfied with the results, I'll provide a final mix that's ready for mastering or distribution.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: What I love most about my job is the creative process. Every project is different, and I get to work with a wide range of artists and genres. I love the challenge of bringing out the best in each recording and helping my clients achieve their artistic vision. It's incredibly rewarding to hear the final product and know that I played a part in making it sound great. I also become more experienced and better with each project, which allows me to continually grow as a Mixing & Mastering Engineer.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: In your face, loud with lots of compression.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: Some of my favorite artists, which I draw a lot of inspiration from, are Bladee, Drippin So Pretty, Ken Carson, Lunchbox and Matt Ox. In terms of producers, I love Whitearmor, Gud, F1lthy, Oogiemane, Icytwat, Thislandis and Mixed Matches. And for Mixing/Mastering Engineers, I am a big fan of Mike Dean and W Shane Lance.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: I often get asked questions about my software and plugins, project timeline, and rates. I also get asked for advice on how to prepare tracks for mixing, such as whether to send vocals with or without effects and how to send files with the correct timing. I use Studio One as my DAW, and use plugins from brands such as Waves, FabFilter, Soundtoys, iZotope, Kilohearts, Softube, and Sonible. For mixing vocals, I charge $20, and for mastering a song, it's $10. To prepare tracks for mixing/mastering, I would highly prefer and recommend that you send all of your files - raw, without any effects in .WAV format with all of the tracks in-sync, meaning they all have the same correct timing. Search up "How to export stems in (DAW)" - DAW meaning Digital Audio Workspace, the Audio Editing software you're using. If you have any questions about anything really, feel free to send me a message, and I'll gladly respond and try to help you in any way I can!

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: I usually start by asking what kind of music they're making, what their goals are, and what their expectations are for the final product. I also ask about their timeline, their budget, and what specific services they're looking for (e.g. mixing, mastering.). I also like to get a sense of their creative vision and the sound they're going for, so I can tailor my approach to their specific needs.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: If you're looking to hire a mixing engineer, my advice would be to look for someone who has some experience and a good reputation. Look for someone who has worked on projects similar to yours, and whose style of mixing you like. It's also important to find someone who you feel comfortable working with and who you feel you can communicate effectively with. Mixing is a collaborative process, so finding someone who can listen to your feedback and make adjustments based on your preferences is key. The most important thing is to find a mixing engineer who you like and trust. Don't be afraid to ask questions and do some research to make sure they're the right person for your music.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Hyperpop, Rap, Trap, Pop-Punk.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: As a mixing engineer, I bring a trained ear and a deep understanding of how to bring out the best in a recording. My goal is to make sure the music sounds as good as possible and has an emotional impact on the listener. I work closely with my clients to make sure we're on the same page throughout the mixing process, so we can create something we're both proud of. I have my own style of mixing, but I am very flexible and can adapt to the needs and preferences of each artist or producer.

  19. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  20. A: Recently, I was working on an EP that was a mixture of Pop-Punk and Rap.

  21. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  22. A: All digital. Have been using only digital plug-ins for as long as I've been doing this. Have never felt the need to get any analog gear.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Currently going to college for Media Production, but I've been doing this for around 4 years.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: Vocal mixing for genres such as Hyperpop, Rap, Trap, Rage, Pop-punk, etc.
