Piano (All Genres)

I have over 25 years of experience playing the piano coupled with an Electronic Music Production & Sound Design degree from Berklee College of Music in order to develop a refined & unique production tool kit. I have written and released numerous songs all containing the piano as the core instrument in all productions.

My name is JP McNicholas and I am originally from Westport, CT. I started playing the piano at 4 years old and continue to play every day. I love working on new music across a number of different genres containing the piano as the focal instrument used in my productions.

I love writing and playing the piano in a number of different genres however I feel like pop, EDM, hip-hop, contemporary and classical music are the areas where I can add the most.

In addition to my piano background I also have experience from the production side with a degree in Electronic Music Production & Sound Design from Berklee College of Music. The main DAWs that I use are Logic Pro and Ableton. The music I release across the digital streaming services all contain digital recordings of piano. I have never used a live acoustic piano in any of my productions as I enjoy recording digitally on a keyboard and sound designing from there to create the perfect sound for whichever piece I may be working on. My favorite samplers that I use are Native Instruments Kontakt 7. I think their Alicia Keys and Una Corda pianos are some of the best sounding pianos around and I enjoy being able to take these sounds "on the go" with productions on the road. I love working on new music across a number of genres and I am excited to learn how best I can help with your project!
