Interview with Oliverio López

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: I have works of very different styles from each other

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: My greatest ability is to be open and communicative with the client, enhance his message in the song and give him my personal stamp, I am not a transparent producer hehe

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: In general, the songs that I have produced have my imprint as a musician, they have their own personality, always respecting the will of the author of the song, sharing visions and materializing everything in the best possible way.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: My work process always depends on the artist, and what he requires, we normally do a pre-production instance, we analyze the song, what elements may be required according to what we want to transmit, and once this instance is done, we proceed to the recording/production of the song, I usually record guitars, basses, synths, and rhythmic elements. Once everything is set, we move on to the mix and the identity of the song in the technical aspect. Once the song is mixed and the client is satisfied, I suggest my mastering technician.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: My studio setup is simple, but practical to be able to work in various conditions. My interface is an ID14 audience, JBL 305 monitors, Aston Spirit and Starlight microphones, recording booth suitable for good shots. Tc electronics bass head, Laney l20 valve, Gibson Les Paul, Godin Session, Yamaha 12 strings, Miranda classical concert guitar, musicman bass

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I am inspired by musicians of various genres and times, such as the beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Argentine musicians from the 80s such as Charly García, Fito Paez, Spinetta, Gustavo Cerati, Uruguayan musicians such as Gustavo Pena, Masliah are also commonplace in my listening. I have a deep admiration for great record producers like Mario Breuer, Rick Rubin, George Martin, Santaolalla among others.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: The most normal type of work that I usually do are productions by emerging artists. I do pre-production work, later the assembly of the song, creation of musical elements, synthesizers, guitars, basses, beats if required. Then I move on to the technical aspect, mixing and giving an identity to the song from the technical point of view, enhancing the identity already worked on in the production.
