My name is Ronnie and Im from Norway.
After spending years learning the art of recording, mixing and mastering, I decided to quit my position at a studio and build my own in early 2023. My new studio is a hybrid of analog hardware and software, focusing on mixing and mastering for remote clients.

Throughout decades our ears have gotten familiar to a certain "sound" that defines a good song. This is because the songs have been mixed and mastered in a certain way and adhered to certain rules. But also the use of analog hardware has been absolutely essential in order to get that professional sound. That which makes a song feel polished and full. Wide and huge.

In addition to using analog gear, its also important to include techniques such as:
- Dynamic EQ
- Multiband Compression
- Saturation (If required)
- MS Processing
- Clipping and Limiting

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Managed to get a somewhat sub par recording to sound like a radio ready song. Role was mixing engineer.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A norwegian metal band.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: To be honest I've just started on SoundBetter. Im from Norway and am trying to get into the US Country scene, so I guess its a long way to the top if I wanna rock'n roll...
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid. Because analog gives something digital cant give (yes, no matter what Plugin Doctor says) and digital gives something analog cant give.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Satisfaction. Its all that matters. If the client is not satisfied then I wont charge anything.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To create something new that has never existed before.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much does it cost :) Not as much as you fear.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it only takes some months to be good in doing this. It takes years and thousands of hours, if not songs.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type of music moved you emotionally. And what feel are you looking for.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have a chat with me. If you have love for music then Im sure we can find a common ground. Im versatile. Love everything from Joni Mitchell (Blue album is my favourite) to norwegian black metal. And everything in between! Good music is good music, independently of its genre.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If the aim was to make music then I would bring this: 1. A laptop 2. My Audeze LCD-X headphones. 3. Looptrotter Sa2rate. 4. API 2500+ 5. Dangerous AD+ with Clip Guard activated.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Grew up listened to Black Sabbath and Deep Purple before I started elementary school. When I got in my 20s I started making hiphop beats. Then I started recording artists before I learned to mix and master. A diverse journey. Been involved in music for about 15 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Warm with punch.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Tool. After all these years they have never been dethroned.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Its never "one tweak" that makes a song great. Never one hardware and never one plugin. Its the combination of thousands of small tweaks. So start of with a vision and work slowly and patiently towards that musical place.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Metal, but I want to dig deeper into Country since its my newfound love. And since music is passion and you cant fake passion, then I need to follow my heart and let Country be part of my life.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A honest feedback of my take on the song. What I enjoy and what I feel it lacks. Then at the end of the day its you, the client, who is to be satisfied and get the song as you want. That's always the goal and must never be forgotten!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Always start with listening to what the client wants. Then dig into the tracks and first focusing on levelling and ensure proper gain staging. Then try to find the "feel" of the song. Work with a top-down approach, but without too much on the Master bus in the beginning.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Hybrid setup of analog hardware (heaps of both compressors and EQ, Saturators etc) and digital software. Everything are at the end being summed through a Dangerous 2BUS+ before a AD converter (Dangerous AD+).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Metal producers have inspired me the most. Joe Barresi among others.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and mastering songs.
