Andrew has mixed a couple of my projects/songs and his ear for a modern sound is unbeatable. In past projects, I’ve had to send the mix back and forth several times to my liking but Andrew has been spot on with a high quality sound. I highly recommend you give him shot for your next project.

Andrew was an absolute pleasure to work with. I engaged him to mix my new track Colour- Me- In. He was professional, patient and courteous, (a rare find these days). It has been just a tad over 1 year since I ventured into recording my own compositions, so I have a lot to learn.Andrew didn't have a problem with several revisions, during the process. I think together we pulled off a really great piece of music. My advice would be if you don't have a massive budget for big studio brands, grab Andrew. Kevin Lindsay Australia.

I’ve worked with Andrew on probably 10-12 songs and absolutely have loved to work with him on my projects! I love a warm sounding record and and I’ve been very satisfied with every single mix he’s done for me.
I’m able to explain what I’m hearing in my head as far as certain tracks standing out in the mix and Andrew has always been willing and able to make it come to life!

Interview with Andrew Lepard

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: My primary aim is to comprehend what clients appreciate and desire from their music. I appreciate having examples to work from, even if they seem contradictory. Such instances provide me with valuable insights into your preferences, enabling me to deliver a final product that truly does justice to your vision.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Take the leap! I am wholly dedicated to ensuring that you leave with a product that not only meets but exceeds your expectations. I guarantee that the final outcome will be an elevated, more professional-sounding version of your song. And trust me, the process will be a fun journey as well!

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: My essentials would be my laptop, my Focal Trio monitors, the Kirchhoff EQ plugin, a stereo pair of Distressors, and a saturation tool - perhaps the Decapitator or Saturn 2 plugins.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: My journey with mixing audio started in 5th grade and has only amplified since then. I've had the privilege of working in several mega-churches over the years. Recently, I made the exciting decision to fully commit to freelance mixing. Keeping aware of advancements in the industry, I've also invested in an Atmos mixing setup, marking an exciting new chapter in my career.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: My style is an amalgamation of the best parts of the diverse music that I consume. I find inspiration everywhere, even in genres that might not be my personal favorites. While my influences are heavily drawn from top CCM artists, I also find sparks in pop, country, and even elements of rap music.

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: Working with Charity Gayle would be an incredible opportunity for me. Her music embodies the live worship sound that I've always admired and aimed for. I'd be thrilled to channel my skills into enhancing her mixes one day.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Start with quality at the source! Mixing, in my eyes, is a lot like cooking. Even the best techniques can only elevate mediocre ingredients to a certain level. But if you start with top-notch material, and treat it with the same attention and care, your end result will undoubtedly be a superior product.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: I honed my skills in mega-church environments and with CCM records, so that's my comfort zone. But I've also enjoyed mixing a wide range of genres such as rock, pop, songwriter, and more.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: My strength lies in my ability to listen to something that's good and instinctively know how to elevate it to greatness. While I have countless tools at my disposal to help make this happen my true expertise is in hearing the song's potential in my mind and guiding it to reach that goal.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Ultimately, what I can bring is straightforward. I am here to add emotion, power, and beauty to your music while revealing to the listeners all the subtleties you poured your heart and soul into crafting.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: I truly enjoy the opportunity to understand your vision for a song. Listening to your ideas, the intended feel, and any reference tracks guide my work process toward the right path. After grasping your vision, I fully dive into the project, striving to seamlessly meld all elements together to reflect your intent with as much beauty and intensity as possible.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: I really love my mix room! It's equipped with Focal Trio6Be as my main monitors, optimized with a Trinnov D-MON calibration system. For Atmos mixes, I employ 3 Focal Trio6Be's across the front complemented by Focal Solo6's and a Sub12, giving me a robust 9.1.4 setup.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: Much of my early inspiration came from people like Chris Greely, whose mixes on many Bethel records deeply resonated with me and fueled my passion for music and mixing. Outside of the CCM sphere, I'm constantly soaking up knowledge from industry greats like Jaycen Joshua, Manny Marroquin, and Andrew Scheps.

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: My main focus is on remote mixing. I truly enjoy bringing a song to the finish line of production, allowing its artistry and beauty to be truly felt and appreciated. I also offer mixing in Dolby Atmos. If you value enhanced power, beauty, and detail in music as much as I do, you might want to consider this format. It's an extraordinary way to elevate the emotion and depth in your music, amplifying its impact in ways previously unimaginable.
