Interview with Chaos Chords Music Studio

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I use apple products with pro tools. I have a lot of gear for recording and production.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: I recorded a full length band that had a lot of technical aspects to it. It really showed me the level of organization that is required for projects like that, it also pushed me in terms of mixing a lot of instruments and sounds together. I am most proud due to how much work went into it and how it ended up.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I am working on mixing a project recorded 10 years ago by a customer who is wanted to revive some songs from his old band.

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: I am brand new here.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Digital. Its more accessible right now, some of the analog plugins work very well.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: I will prioritize your project and do everything in power to ensure that you are pleased with the final project.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: I love opening a new project and diving into something new. I am not usually looking for how to "fix" a project but more of how I can enhance it.

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: Most people want to know the price of service. I like to get more information about what kind of project it is so I can assess. I get asked how I learned to do this type of work. I just let them know that I have been working with bands and in bands for a long time. I am pro tools certified and did go to a technical school for recording and production.

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: I think the biggest misconception is that some people think they can get anyone to mix their music and have it come out as they planned. I think experience in this line of work goes a long way in terms of problem solving and getting around some issues that one might run into mixing a project.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: I like to find out what they are looking for in a final project. what their timeline is, is there anything else they would lie to add to a project that was not recorded.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: I work very fast as I d this full time. I will make sure you are satisfied with the final project. I can take direction well and also tell you what my thoughts are if that is something you would like.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Guitar, drum, shaker, tambourine, some wind instrument.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I have been in the music scene recording and mixing for over 10 years.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: I would say I am an aggressive mixer, and I want all the instruments in the final project to keep their true sound.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: Too many to think of but I think a band that has a lot of dynamic changes like Falling In Reverse would be very fun and challenging.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Don't be afraid to do something out of the ordinary to get the most out of every mix!

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: Mostly, hardcore, metal, rock, pop rock or country

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: Recording, producing, mixing vocals.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: Ii am very efficient at making less quality recordings come to life. I have recorded and mixed drums and vocals for a long time and believe those two instruments need to get nailed on every mix to be a success. I can also add the eunstrument samples and music to tracks if needed.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: On multi track recordings I will start mixing the drums first followed in order by guitars, bass, and vocals. If there are other supporting instruments or sounds I will work them in as I see appropriate. I will also determine the quality of the recording to see if I need to add any drum samples.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: I specialize in recording live instruments, Mixing and mastering. I work with full bands, or solo artists.
