Interview with Jordi Beltrán
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Two years ago I co-produced and recorded synths and pianos for "Broem", a project I've been involved in for more than 8 years now. We went to a studio lost in the middle of nowhere for a week, where we produced and recorded a total of 6 songs. Working with friends makes everything easier!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I just finished an EP from a Canadian artist based in Amsterdam. I'm currently working on a couple of singles for an independent indie-pop artist, and mixing some tracks for a afro-house DJ.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Life is not black or white ;)
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I'm constantly learning and exploring new ways of working.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm graduated in Commercial Music at Bath Spa University and holding a Master's Degree in Music and Sound for Entertainment Experiences at ENTI-UB. I have been composing, producing, and working in the studio for around 10 years now.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: "Less is more."
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication and efficiency.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Depends on the services I'm requested for, but I like to bring a new professional scope.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup has all the essentials. I like to have a cozy and functional space with the best gear to ensure a top quality result.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Quincy Jones, Mk Gee, FKJ, Finneas, Meritxell Neddermann, Adri Goor,...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I take demos or ideas, and transform them into a song, taking care of the full production. If the client only needs pianos/synths, I do the arrangement and recording of them. Occasionally I also mix tracks, bringing the sound to a next level.
