Stephanie Heitz on SoundBetter

Looking for a unique voice with pizazz & personality to make your project stand out? Look no further! I’m Stephanie Heitz, a singer/songwriter from the Midwest, US. I’ve released over thirty songs and collaborated with musicians from around the world. I have an endless arsenal of creativity and I look forward to hearing from you soon! -STEPH

Music has played an intricate role in my life since I was a little girl. My grandmother was a professional jazz musician and a highlight of my childhood was attending her gigs. I was harmonizing at the age of four, sitting next to grandma on the piano bench.

Music is life-giving. I’m a passionate singer and I have a knack for songwriting. I have a home studio that allows me to cut vocals smoothly and professionally. I also have many years of experience as a freelance voiceover artist.

I’m warm, friendly and professional. You’ll find great ease in working with me, like you’re working alongside of an old friend. We can talk about your project goals and once you say the word, my creativity will take over and do the rest.

I also have connections with excellent producers, who can take our project to greater heights, so how about we get started?

Interview with Stephanie Heitz

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: When my dad passed away two years ago, I locked myself in my music room and composed a tribute song from start to finish in five hours. I was in such a zone, I honestly have little recollection. Nevertheless, this is by far my favorite project I've ever completed. I chose a gifted musician/producer named Ryan Marsh to work alongside of me on this special tribute. I named it "No More Tears" and I released it on his birthday. I'll always hold this healing song close to my hearts!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I always have an array of projects in the works from personal gigs to studio sessions. I have an emotional, break up song in the works with a talented producer from London that happens to be like nothing I've created before!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I highly recommend Macanto Music!!! This is an excellent group of musicians that I've worked with personally and love!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: LOVE the purity of analog by far.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to be an excellent communicator. I promise to listen to your thoughts, breathe life into your project, and help you create something that stands out in the best way possible.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I'm a free-spirit by nature. Being a singer/songwriter allows me tap into every aspect of my fun-loving, creative personality and I LOVE IT!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: "I've got this guitar riff I can't get out of my head. Do you think you can come up with some cool lyrics?" I'm quick to reply, "I personally guarantee that I can!"

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: People assume I spend my day interacting with other creative people in coffee shops, encouraging one another with our craft, and dreaming up brilliant projects and this is only partially true. I wouldn't say this is what I do EVERYDAY, but at least three days a week, if I'm lucky.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Are you ready to create something one-of-a-kind and spectacular?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: You might as well save my profile in your FAVORITES because you'll definitely be back!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: When the word "island" is mentioned, a ukulele certainly comes to mind. With my endless supply of creativity and this sweet, four-string instrument in hand, what more could I possibly need?

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been a voiceover artist for 20 years. This has taught me a thing or two about inflection. In addition, I'm a worship leader for a year and a half at a wonderful, community church where I oversee every aspect of our band and music program. I've been involved in this type of ministry collectively for many years. It's exposed me to many artistic styles and approaches to music.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I add a touch of soul to everything I do. My songwriting and vocal delivery are the overflow of my heart.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Amy Winehouse would have been incredible to work with, but she left us far too soon!

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Everything comes down to good communication and effectively conveying the message behind the music.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Rhythm & Blues, Gospel, and Soul are my specialties. However, I've also written and released songs in the Indie Rock/Indie Pop genre as well.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I'm a people person and I love the art of connection. I believe I carry this skill into my songwriting because my goal is to write authentic, relatable lyrics.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring an incredible amount of energy, positivity, and a unique vocal presence to the songs I create.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My creative process begins in my music room where I write lyrics, create melodies, and arrange songs. I use various instruments to facilitate songwriting and find so much joy in this process!

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I record raw vocals using Audacity software in my small, home studio. I partner with various producers to further develop projects all the way to completion, including mixing & mastering.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I love listening to and supporting independent artists and going to smaller venues to fund their art.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: My specialty is singing and songwriting. I absolutely love connecting with other creatives and bringing projects to life. I've been blessed to work with some excellent producers. It's such a great feeling when you experience instant music chemistry and a shared vision comes to fruition.
