Interview with Nico González
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied music composition at the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have two years left before graduation while doing two careers: "Classical composition" and "Arrangements for popular music". I started making music 16 years ago. I sing, play the guitar and piano. I also teach music theory.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When two instruments/persons interact by waiting, listening, paying attention to each other, and moving together, they are considered "mixed". "They are not two individuals, but only one made up of two," one would say. Whether they are experienced musicians playing difficult passages or just two kids singing easy notes; the depth of this interaction is the basis of beauty.

Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start a fresh DAW session and insert the audio reference given by the customer. My first goal is to recreate it as much as feasible based on the client's other specifications, such as "don't be equal but similar" or any other type.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio equipped with two MIDI keyboards and two large speakers that produce clear and low sounds. My audio interface is called the "Focusrite Scarlett Solo, 3rd Generation". I have a condenser microphone. I have a Fender Stratocaster and two Nylon electric guitars. I use a Ryzen 5 machine with 32GB of RAM. My 2 primary softwares are Ableton Live 11 and Sibelius Ultimate.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Snarky Puppy and Robert Glasper are two artists whose sounds, styles, and concepts I adore. Also Jacob Collier.

A: I've been working at Fiverr.com for four years. My primary functions are as a music transcriber and producer. About becoming a transcriber: I transcribe all audio by ear, even symphonic orchestras. I have transcribed complete albums and many old recordings in many genres such as jazz, latin, pop, classical, between others.
