Noah Timman on SoundBetter

Professional pop producer, songwriter and engineer. Working with/worked with: Alessandra, Chiara Castelli, Armen Paul, Roe Byrne, Remo Forrer, Hunter Falls, Will Church, Kes, JUWLS, Badminton, Ida Weiler. Studied music production at the ArtEZ conservatory in Enschede.

I’m a Netherlands-based producer, songwriter, and audio engineer with over 5 years of experience creating music for artists. I specialize in alternative pop and pop/rock, drawing inspiration from acts like Valley, The 1975, Holly Humberstone, and Joan.

My goal is simple: to bring your musical vision to life and elevate your songs to a release-ready, professional level. I approach every project with precision, creativity, and a strong attention to detail, always aiming for the highest possible quality.

My strengths lie in harmony writing, sound design (especially synths), and drum programming. I’m also an experienced mixing and mastering engineer, handling most of my own productions as well as projects for external clients, making me a true all-round collaborator from idea to final master.

Whether you’re looking for full production, mixing & mastering, or specific elements like drum programming or synth/keys arrangement, I’d love to work with you.

Interview with Noah Timman

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I got into the semi finals at MESC in 2025. This is the national competition for Eurovision in Malta. It created tons of opportunities for me.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently working on multiple singles for multiple artists and I am finishing up and EP where I did all the production and mixing for.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Kaiya Campbell - she is an amazing singer and songwriter and very versatile.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog. I love the warmth and character it gives. But without digital I wouldn't be able to do what I do now.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise professionality, a personal approach and high quality output on every project.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Meeting people from all over the world and being creative together.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Most of the time they will ask me if they need to find a mixing and mastering engineer. I tell them that in most cases I mix and master all my productions.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Probably that I don't "write" a song but only produce the track. As a producer you write the music, you think about what sound reinforces the subject or which chords work best with the melody. I am just as much a writer as a songwriter or lyricist, just in a different way.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What are your goals for the song/the project? What is your vision as an artist?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: The more I know the better. Make sure that you have a somewhat clear vision about where you want your project to go. Have references and possibly demo's ready. This way the process will be much quicker and the end result much better.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My laptop, Midi keyboard, headphones, my Apollo Twin interface and guitar.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started producing when I was 15 years old when I found out about Garageband on my parents old iMac. After high school I went to study music production at the ArtEZ conservatory in Enschede and developed myself immensely technically. I went to a writingcamp in Spain where I would fall in love with songwriting and working with people from all over the world. My network kept on growing and I would do a lot of writingcamps. Eventually I became quicker and better and I developed my sound. Now I work woth artists and songwriters from all over the world and I also organise my own writingcamps together with three other people.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Colorful, emotion, nostalgic, organic.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would say Sam Fender, I feel like his vocals and songwriting would be so eye opening to work with.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Try to enjoy the process just as much as the end result, because people will hear the process back in the end result.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Usually indie pop, electronic pop or edm.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is definitely translating intangible feelings or vague stories into concrete music.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring depth, emotion, quality and impact to a song.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I always want to get to know the person that I'm working with first and then I want to find out exactly what the person I'm working with wants for his or her song or project. I do this by listening to references and asking questions about the project. After this I can get started and involve the artist in what I do by sending a new version each time and staying in touch. When the artist is ultimately satisfied with a version, it is up to them to choose whether to have it mixed and/or mastered by me or to have it done externally.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have two different setups which I use all the time. I often work from home where I have my KRK rokit 5 G4's. Then I have the Rode NT1 in case I want to record something. For headphones I use the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, the best and most versatile headphones for recording and mixing in my opinion. Next to this I also have a studio on a different location where I do most of my sessions and do mixing and mastering. In this studio I work with a pair of Dynaudio BM6A MK1's which I absolutely love, and I use an M-audio Sputnik tube mic for vocal recording. I also use a Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII Duo as an interface.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: My biggest inspirations at the moment are Sam Fender, Holly Humberstone, Olivia Dean and Djo.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: In most cases I get asked for sessions to be the producer of their track, or I get asked for a project like multiple singles or an EP. Next to this I also get hired for mixing and mastering.
