Interview with BubbieBeats

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of a project where I mixed and produced a 10-song EP for a rising local artist. I handled the beats, recording, mixing, and mastering. The project helped the artist gain thousands of streams and recognition, and seeing their growth fueled me to keep elevating my work.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently working on my “TakeOver” project, producing and mixing tracks for multiple artists in my city. It’s a collaborative project that’s pushing creative boundaries and showcasing local talent.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not at the moment

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I lean towards digital because of flexibility, speed, and recallability. But I use analog-modeled plugins and hybrid techniques to capture the warmth and depth of analog gear.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to treat every record like it’s my own—with care, creativity, and professional polish. I’ll always keep communication open, respect deadlines, and deliver a mix that you’re proud to release.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Helping artists hear their vision come alive. There’s nothing better than watching someone’s reaction when their song sounds bigger, clearer, and more professional than they imagined.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Q: “How long will it take?” A: Turnaround depends on the project size, but I usually deliver a first draft within a few days. I prioritize both speed and quality.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing is just “turning the vocals up.” In reality, it’s a technical and creative process involving EQ, compression, space, balance, and emotion. It’s about making every detail come together seamlessly.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: • What artists or songs inspire the sound you’re going for? • Do you want the final mix to sound polished, raw, or somewhere in between? • Do you need just mixing/mastering, or full production support? This helps me understand their vision and tailor the process to their needs.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone who listens to your vision, communicates well, and delivers on time. Gear is important, but the ear and dedication behind it matter more. Always ask for examples of previous work to make sure the sound matches what you’re looking for.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. Avantone CV-12 mic 2. Scarlett 18i20 interface 3. Mac Mini M2 with Pro Tools 4. Yamaha HS8 monitors 5. External drive loaded with my best plugins & samples

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started producing beats as a teenager, then expanded into engineering and full production as my network grew. Over the years, I’ve worked with local artists, built my studio setup, and developed a reputation for quality mixes and professional service. I’ve been doing this seriously for over half a decade, and I continue to evolve daily.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Clean, modern, and powerful. I focus on clarity and punch but always leave room for creativity and emotion. My mixes have depth and space, while still hitting hard where it counts.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with Lil Baby or Rod Wave—their storytelling and emotional delivery align with my mixing style, and I know I could bring extra impact to their sound. Also, Brent Faiyaz for his creative artistry and vocal texture.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Reference your mixes on multiple systems—studio monitors, headphones, car speakers, even your phone. If it sounds balanced everywhere, you know it’s ready. Too many artists skip this step, but it makes all the difference.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mostly work on hip-hop, R&B, trap, and pop, but I enjoy crossing genres. I’ve engineered records that blend rap with melodic elements, atmospheric sounds, and even experimental textures.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is mixing and vocal treatment. I excel at making vocals sit perfectly in the mix—clear, powerful, and emotionally engaging. That’s often what turns a good record into a great one.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring polish, creativity, and energy. My goal is to highlight the best parts of the artist and make the song sound larger than life without losing its raw essence. Whether that means layering subtle textures, tightening the low-end, or making vocals shine, I make sure the track connects emotionally while hitting industry standards.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by listening closely to the artist’s vision—understanding their influences, goals, and emotions behind the song. From there, I build or refine the beat, arrange vocals, and move into a detailed mixing process, balancing clarity, punch, and dynamics. Finally, I master the track to ensure it translates across all platforms. Communication is key, so I keep my clients updated throughout the process.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My setup is a professional hybrid studio designed for both recording and mixing. Key pieces include: • Avantone CV-12 microphone for warm, detailed vocals • Scarlett 18i20 3rd Gen interface for reliable conversion and routing • Pro Tools Studio running on a Mac Mini M2 for speed and efficiency • Yamaha HS8 monitors for accurate mixing translation • External drives for secure storage and backup I also integrate high-quality plugins and analog-style emulations to give artists the best of both digital and analog worlds.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I draw inspiration from producers like Metro Boomin, Pharrell, and Dr. Dre for their ability to shape culture with sound, and from engineers like Leslie Brathwaite and MixedByAli who bring unmatched clarity and emotion into mixes. Their balance of creativity and technical precision pushes me to keep refining my craft.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I primarily provide mixing, mastering, and music production. Many artists come to me for clean, professional-quality mixes that make their music sound radio-ready while still keeping their authentic vibe. I also produce custom beats, from scratch or tailored to an artist’s vision, and often handle full production packages that include recording, engineering, and arrangement.
