The Moon on SoundBetter

I'm a music producer with over 10 years of experience, working 100% remotely with artists around the world. I've collaborated with more than a dozen independent musicians and had the opportunity to work in-studio alongside Grammy-winning artists, bringing high-level production standards to every project I touch. Let’s make something real.

Interview with The Moon

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am proud of every project I release because it lets me move on to something else. I enjoy looking back on everything I have done and seeing how I can do things differently or make them sound better with the knowledge I have now.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I have 2 clients that I am working with remotely. 1 on an EP, and 1 is just coming back into music after an injury. I am working with both of them weekly to give them the best possible music.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I am very new here, but I would love to meet so many artists!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital primarily for the user experience. There are very obvious benefits to using analog, but as many do not have that as a commodity in their lives, digital does just as much if not more in a smaller package.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: It IS possible to make your song ideas a reality, and we will make it happen.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Seeing the art that so many people can create. You can give 100 producers the same sample pack and you will never receive the same song. Everyone has different ideas, so if you are stuck please ask around!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Q: Can you make a song like "blank" A: Yes and No. I need you to tell me what exactly you like about the song. Is it the guitar, lyrics, overall vibe, tempo? I'm great at recreating beats but there is an aspect of your own creativity that I look for in clients.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I'm not a miracle worker and I'm not a mind reader. If you cannot sing in the first place, I cannot fix that. There are plugins that can help that I have mastered, but warm your voice up before you record, please. I need you to work with me and tell me what you like or dislike. It is your song after all, and if you leave it to me, it will be a "The Moon Special"

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Are you willing to hear me say "I need another take"?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I am extremely introverted. If it helps, we can communicate as much or as little as you would like. Have a vision, and work with me. I don't read minds.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: MacBook Pro with Logic Audio Interface MXL 770 Mic. My cat DT 770 Headphones.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I originally went to school and received my degree in Film Production and Editing, then moved to New York. I played around with DAWs as a hobby and pestered a music studio for 8 months to let me tour the place. I talked with the owner and landed a job right there. I have been producing for a total of 11 years.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Chaoticly organized.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: 070 Shake. A lot of wisdom with little to say. I want to watch and learn.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Stop Quantizing everything.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop, Hip-Hop, Trap, Electronic, Hyper Pop

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My work ethic. I love music and I love working. I live to work and will die doing this.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Pure Creativity. It is important to have a chaotic or unconventional nature to the way you create, and this allows me to find sounds or moments that would not generally be used and instead give them new life.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I give a demo instrumental to the artist and have them write and record whatever their heart desires. I then work along side the artist remotely to build the song from beginning to end to create the perfect final product.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work with a custom PC. I use Pro Tools, and have multiple microphones for different uses. I have a full audio monitor setup and headphones for fine tuning.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: 070 Shake, Mac Miller, Jacob Collier, and George Harrison. They all have a genuine attachment to music and I think that is crucial.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I primarily build beats and instrumentals. I like to work from start to finish with the artist.
