I specialize in creating original, heartfelt lyrics that reflect both the struggles and the beauty of life. Whether it's telling a story of God's mercy or expressing the pain of emotional hurt, I bring raw honesty and spiritual depth into every line I write. My songs are rooted in real experiences — both personal and inspired by others — and my goa
I’m a 20-year-old songwriter with a passion for writing music that speaks to the heart and spirit. My songwriting journey began as a way to process the emotions caused by life’s challenges, especially those moments when people hurt us deeply — and yet, God remains faithful. Over time, this has turned into a gift I now offer to others: writing powerful gospel songs full of grace, mercy, and truth.
My style is rooted in storytelling — every song I write has meaning and depth, often inspired by my own walk with faith or the stories of those around me. I focus on spiritual topics, inner healing, and emotional honesty. Whether you need lyrics for worship, testimony songs, or soulful reflections on life and faith, I will create something authentic and moving.
I can write from scratch or help develop your ideas into finished lyrics. I value creativity, commitment, and the message behind every word. I want the listener to not just hear the music, but feel every line — like it was written for them

Interview with lorex smith
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I once wrote a song for someone who felt abandoned by family and misunderstood. The lyrics helped them express pain they’d held in for years. They said it felt like therapy. That’s the moment I knew songwriting is more than music—it’s healing.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now, I’m working on a collection of gospel and R&B songs for artists who want to share messages of grace, healing, and personal struggle through their music.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I’m still new to the platform, but always open to building a trusted network of vocalists and producers I can refer to clients in need.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, because it gives me flexibility and access to collaborate with anyone, anywhere. I value raw emotion over polish, and digital tools let me move fast and stay creative.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to write lyrics that are authentic, heartfelt, and crafted to sound like your own voice—never generic. Your story will be heard.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Turning someone's emotions or story into a song that speaks for them—even when they didn’t know how to say it. That’s powerful.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: Can you write a song based on just a few ideas or lines? A: Yes! Even one line or a feeling is enough for me to build a full, meaningful song around.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That songwriting is just rhyming words. In reality, it’s about capturing emotion, voice, and purpose. Good lyrics take time, thought, and emotional investment.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What’s the story or message you want the song to tell? What genre or vibe are you aiming for? Any specific phrases or feelings you want included? Will it be sung, rapped, or both?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who listens before they write. Your story matters, and the right songwriter will treat it with care, not just rhyme words together.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Notebook & pen (can’t write without it) Condenser microphone Audio interface Laptop with FL Studio Headphones
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started writing songs as a form of self-expression during hard times. Over the years, it turned into a passion and now a service I offer to others. I've been writing for several years, consistently building my craft and helping others tell their stories through music.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is deep, emotional, faith-driven, and poetic. I blend real-life struggles and spiritual insight with smooth flow and raw honesty.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with NF or Tasha Cobbs Leonard. NF’s storytelling and vulnerability inspire me, and Tasha brings powerful faith and soul into every lyric—both represent the kind of emotional truth I aim for in every song.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Start with the emotion before the beat. Whether you're producing or writing, always know what feeling you want the listener to walk away with. That guides the lyrics, melody, and tone.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on gospel, R&B, emotional rap, and spoken word. My songs often explore deep personal experiences, healing, and faith—with a raw and honest tone that resonates.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is turning real emotions and personal stories into powerful, relatable lyrics. I have a natural gift for expressing deep feelings—pain, faith, healing, or struggle—in a way that connects with listeners and feels true to the artist's voice. I don’t just write words—I create lyrics that speak directly to the heart.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What I bring to a song is authentic emotion, storytelling, and a voice for what others feel but struggle to say. I don’t just write lyrics—I translate pain, faith, love, or struggle into words that can be felt, not just heard. My strength is in writing from the heart, especially for songs about real-life experiences—like rejection, healing, hope, or finding God in broken moments. I bring honesty to the table. Whether it's a gospel song full of grace or an R&B track about feeling alone, I make sure the message is clear, deep, and relatable. I also bring a unique perspective—as someone who’s been through emotional highs and lows, I know how to write in a way that connects. I use rhythm, rhyme, and structure to give each song flow, but I never let technique overpower the emotion. I write in a way that feels like someone is speaking their truth. Beyond that, I bring flexibility and vision. I can adjust my writing to match the artist’s tone, voice, or message. Whether you need something poetic, raw, spiritual, or even dark, I adapt while still making it feel alive and meaningful. In the end, what I bring to a song is soul—the kind that helps a listener say, “That’s exactly how I feel.”
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process is focused, collaborative, and built around bringing raw emotion to life through lyrics. It starts with understanding the client’s vision. I usually ask a few key questions: What’s the message or story behind the song? What genre or mood are you aiming for? Are there any specific lines, Bible verses, emotions, or experiences you want included? Once I have the core idea, I move into the creative writing phase. I’ll sketch out the song structure—usually with verses, a chorus, and a bridge—making sure each section flows naturally and builds the emotion. If it’s gospel or emotional rap, I pay close attention to spiritual meaning, rhyme patterns, and storytelling. Next, I’ll craft the lyrics line by line, making sure they are not only meaningful but also rhythmically smooth and performance-ready. I often read the lines out loud or sing them softly to test flow and feel. Sometimes, I may also suggest a melody or hook line if the client needs one. After the first draft, I give it time to breathe, then revisit it for edits—sharpening metaphors, tightening the rhythm, and making sure the message hits hard. I then share it with the client for feedback and do any requested revisions. If needed, I can also help match the lyrics to an instrumental, or provide guidance on vocal delivery. At the heart of my process is this: every song should feel personal, powerful, and real—whether it’s a song of pain, faith, or freedom.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is simple but effective—built to help me focus on writing emotional, powerful songs without distraction. I use a laptop with a reliable DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like FL Studio or Audacity for basic recordings and demo structuring. I mainly write lyrics, but I also use the setup to arrange melodies, test vocal ideas, or add background instrumentals to match the mood of a song. For vocals, I have a condenser microphone with a pop filter, which gives me clean recordings for demos or rough ideas. I run it through a USB audio interface, which helps ensure good sound quality and reduces latency when tracking vocals. I also use closed-back studio headphones, which help me hear every detail clearly while editing or mixing ideas. My space is treated modestly with foam panels to reduce echo and improve sound clarity. I keep a notebook, whiteboard, and digital pad nearby to jot down lyrics and structure song ideas on the spot. I often collaborate online, so I also have tools like Google Docs, BeatStars, and messaging apps to stay connected with clients, producers, and vocalists. It’s not the fanciest studio, but it’s a space that allows me to create freely, stay focused, and deliver heartfelt songwriting that reflects both my own passion and the client’s vision.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm deeply inspired by artists and producers who pour raw emotion and truth into their music. NF is a big influence for me—his vulnerability, storytelling, and ability to turn pain into purpose really reflect what I aim to do with my own songs. Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Maverick City Music also inspire me in the gospel space, especially how they combine deep spiritual lyrics with modern production. Their songs don’t just sound good—they carry healing and power. On the production side, I look up to Pharrell Williams and Metro Boomin. Pharrell’s creativity across genres shows how limitless music can be when you break the rules with intention. Metro’s beats carry emotion even before a word is spoken—they make the listener feel something, and that’s what I strive for in my lyrics too. I also admire lesser-known but powerful independent artists who use platforms like YouTube or SoundCloud to share honest, heartfelt music without needing fame. Their boldness and rawness inspire me to stay real and write from my truth, not just what’s trending. Whether it's the lyrical depth, production quality, or spiritual energy, I’m inspired by anyone who uses music not just as a sound, but as a message.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: As a songwriter, the most common type of work I do for my clients involves crafting custom lyrics that emotionally connect with their personal stories, ideas, or musical vision. Whether it's gospel, R&B, rap, or spoken word, I take time to understand what the client wants to express—be it praise, pain, love, struggle, or hope—and transform those feelings into powerful, memorable lyrics. My process often begins with a conversation to gather the client's thoughts, themes, or even just a few lines or titles they have in mind. From there, I build verses, choruses, and bridges that fit the desired mood and message. For example, I might write a gospel song that speaks of God’s grace and mercy through personal battles, or a deep R&B track about emotional healing after betrayal. I tailor every word to the tone and genre, using poetic structure, rhyme, and rhythm to give the song flow and impact. Clients often request songs that reflect real-life experiences—like overcoming hardships, dealing with broken relationships, or finding self-worth. I turn their raw emotions into polished lyrics that can be used for personal recordings, public performances, or digital platforms. In some cases, I also help structure songs with melody suggestions or offer revisions to enhance clarity, rhythm, and emotional depth. Whether a client needs a full song or just help finishing what they’ve started, I bring creativity, empathy, and storytelling to every project. Ultimately, my goal is to give clients lyrics that sound like their own voice, just more refined—authentic, moving, and ready to be heard.
