Aline J. on SoundBetter

You have a song that needs vocals? Don't look any further, I'm here to get the job done. My goal is to bring your project to the next level! Emotional and versatile, strong and powerful voice, I will adapt my expression to your song, its lyrics and dynamics.

I can sing clean vocals (head voice and belting), screams and growls. I can also sing other genres like Soul and Pop. Take a listen to the song on the right and the videos below and you'll see the variety of styles I can accomplish.

What I do:
- Full Vocal Recording on pre-written song (lead, dubs, harms) with high quality equipment.
- Vocal comping (you already have an instrumental record of your song and you need vocal lines)
I usually deliver edited files without mix in wav format - unless you ask me for a different format - within 3 to 8 days.

About me:
My name's Aline, I'm a vocalist and songwriter. I began my musical career while I was a teenager as a singer in a rock band. In 2020, I joined the metal band No Time For Redemption and we made our mark notably with the single "Life Taker", which reached number 19 in the iTunes Rock chart in Switzerland. Currently, I write and release my own songs under the name Aline J. and collaborate with other artists.

Interview with Aline J.

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The Murmurs of broken hours, a song I wrote and released recently. It talks about the beautiful yet sometimes complicated relationship between the artist and the creation. The song resonated well with the public and several radio stations were happy to include it on airplay.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm composing my next song for the Aline J. project and I'm currently learning and recording the complete repertoire for a metal project, where I'll be taking over the role of lead singer.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I deliver quality vocals and will make sure you’re fully satisfied with the final results. I work with professionalism, creativity and I bring the right emotion to every track.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Creating atmospheres, singing, diving into a new project and learning through collaborations.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: I like to get clear on the vision they have: What emotion are you going for? Do you have reference artists, singers or songs? Do you have a specific vocal melody idea I should follow or are you looking for full vocal comping?

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: A mic, my soundcard, a laptop, my headphones and my phone!

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: A bit raw, high in intensity, powerful and emotional.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Emotion, expression, versatility and I quickly understand what's expected of me.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: Fragility, intensity and depth.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: After briefing with the client, I listen to the song a few times to get a feel for it, then I start singing the different parts and warm up at the same time. I then switch to my DAW, add the click and the track and start recording leads, dubs, harmonies and background vocals. While doing so, I check volumes, expression and vocal intensity, I redo takes if needed and edit tracks by cutting out unnecessary parts. Finally, I export each vocal track individually in wav format and create a secure drive folder to which I upload the files. I send the folder link to the client, pending review.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I've got a home studio with quality gear and a choice of microphones; - Shure SM7B - SE X1 S cardioid microphone - RODE M1 I use my good old Sony Headphones a Focusrite scarlett 2i2 and a Mac Computer. I record on Bitwig studio.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I'm inspired by artists like Jinjer, Evanescence, Good Charlotte, Muse, Linkin Park, Halestorm, Whitechapel. I also love the voice / sound and artistic approach of Sia, Miley Cyrus, Chelsea Wolfe, Avril Lavigne, Billie Eilish, Lindsey Stirling, Amy Winehouse and more.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: - Full Vocal Recording on pre-written song (lead, dubs, harms, backing vocla) with high quality equipment. - Vocal comping (you have your own song already recorded and you need vocal lines)
