Interview with Velvet Noir

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’ve worked on projects that touched hidden parts of me and revealed what I’m truly capable of. Seeing my clients feel proud of what we created together has been so fulfilling, and the process itself was beautiful as the songs where I managed to create that feeling of vertigo, where the lyrics and my voice carried a raw, human truth that makes you feel something real in your soul.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m excitedly working on some cool projects for my clients while also making progress on producing my own songs for my upcoming launch.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I don’t personally know many people on SoundBetter yet, but I’ve learned from Kimera Morrell, who has an amazing pop voice and energy. She’s such a beautiful person, very generous with her knowledge, and her vocals always sound so clean, bright, and professional. I really admire her as an artist and a human being.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I believe both analog and digital have their magic, but if I had to choose, I’d say digital, because it’s multipurpose and, when guided by a human touch, it can create entire multiverses of sound and emotion. The technology opens endless doors, but it’s the soul behind it that truly makes the magic happen.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to my clients is professionalism, patience, passion, creativity, and full commitment. I’m dedicated to bringing their vision to life with care and authenticity, and to making the whole process a positive and inspiring experience for everyone involved

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Oh my God! I know I work by expressing myself with words, but honestly, I don’t even know how to fully express what it means to be able to work doing what you’re most passionate about in life and in the world. It’s something that fills me with gratitude, joy, and a deep sense of purpose every single day. I don't have a plan B 🤍

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The questions I get asked the most are if I can handle genres like Deep House, Electronic, and Afro House and if I can take care of toplines, harmonies, doubles, ad-libs, lyrics, and melodies. My answer is always a genuine yes! I truly enjoy working on all those elements and I’m excited to bring them to life with passion and commitment.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I think the biggest misconception about what I do is that it’s just about having a nice voice or writing some pretty words. In reality, I’m like a dictionary of emotions and professional techniques. Just like a painter with a wide range of colors can create depth through light, darkness, and shadows, I use my full range of emotions and vocal tools to bring true clean dimension and soul to a song.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask clients about their vision for the song, the aesthetic they want in the vocals, and the emotions they want to transmit. If it’s a songwriting project, I ask what direction they want to go in, or if they prefer me to choose freely. I also like to know how intense they want the emotions to feel, so I can truly capture the idea to get the best result.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice for a client looking to hire someone like me is to be clear and bold about what they want to achieve. Don’t hold back your vision, the more you share it with me, the better I can bring it to life. Also, trust my commitment, patience and passion to always give my best so you get the results you’re dreaming of. I’m here to co-create something powerful with you.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I were on a deserted island and could only bring five pieces of gear, I’d take my headphones, my microphone, my audio interface, my computer, and a cinema camera. With these, I could create music, record my voice, and capture visuals to express everything I feel in that solitude. And if I could sneak in one more thing… an endless playlist to keep my soul alive.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Music has been my passion and obsession since I was 7 years old. I started singing and falling in love with songs as a child, and by the time I was 16, I began writing my own music. For many years, I worked as a ghost singer and ghostwriter, with my voice and lyrics reaching millions of streams. Now, after all that experience, I’m working on launching myself as a solo artist to share my true sound and vision with the world.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is deep and bittersweet with a hint of futurism. I like to blend emotion and edge, creating sounds that feel both intense and visually striking, while pushing boundaries into new, unexplored territories.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Doja Cat because her wild, unique, and fearless style would create a sexy contrast with my music. I’m also drawn to artists like Rosalia and Little Simz, as I feel we could create an amazing groove together. Collaborating with artists who bring bold energy and fresh vibes to my bright darkness inspires me to be free.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: My biggest production advice is to always stay authentic to what your soul truly tells you. The most intimate expression is the most massive, because we are all one connected by a single intelligence. When your music comes from that place, it naturally resonates deeply and reaches far beyond to your people.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I primarily work in Deep House, Electronic Pop, Dark R&B, Pop, Acoustic, and Soul. I’m passionate about creating music that carries deep emotion and unique energy, no matter the genre. For me, it’s all about capturing a vibe that resonates and moves the listener as result of my raw and professional expression.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Is feeling so deep everything in life and being able to create music with that, it’s a superpower.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: What I bring to a song is deep emotion, a strong and powerful energy, and a captivating aesthetic. I love making each song feel alive, raw, and beautiful at the same time, like it’s touching something hidden inside the listener. I always aim to create a vibe that’s unforgettable.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My typical work process depends on whether I’m recording vocals or composing. If I’m recording, I start with a vocal warm-up, then I play a playlist that connects with what I’m about to record to get into the right energy. I really need to feel the song in my body and soul before recording, and then I do multiple takes until I capture the best ones. When I’m composing, I listen to the instrumental deeply, in my guts, and let the melody come to me naturally , I almost sublimate it. Then I listen to what that melody is speaking emotionally and translate it into lyrics that carry that feeling. After that, I record the vocals, searching for the best technical takes with the truest emotions to bring the song to life.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio setup includes a Rode NT1-A 5th generation microphone and a Universal Audio Volt 276 interface. I work on Pro Tools, surrounded by acoustic panels, my pyramids, quarz, sea shells and golden angels statues that inspire me. Before recording, I always light a candle or some incense and make myself a coffee to set the mood. I believe creating music is technical but it’s about capturing emotion and magic in every take too.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by artists who are authentic and brave, the ones who make you feel a kind of vertigo in your gut and soul. Artists like Doja Cat, Rosalía, Lana Del Rey, Milo J, Duki, and Juicy Bae move me deeply but it’s hard to stop naming artist! I also love rap, even though I don’t do much of it myself, it fuels the confidence in my passion and creativity. And I truly admire the dark R&B productions that create such intense and haunting atmospheres.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most of the time, I bring melodies and lyrics to life. My clients usually come to me with a beat or instrumental, and I create the topline, write the lyrics, and record the vocals with emotion and authenticity. As a singer and songwriter, I love turning their vision into a song that feels alive and memorable, making sure each word and note truly connects.
