Interview with OsmeyMusic
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’ve had the opportunity to work on numerous projects that I’ve been deeply passionate about. In each of them, I’ve taken on various roles, including music production, arranging, and recording drums and percussion. I’ve also been responsible for carefully selecting the right musicians for each song, always considering the style and sonic identity required by each piece.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently, I’m working on several projects for different clients, as well as two personal projects of my own.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: In general, digital systems are preferred over analog ones due to their greater accuracy, ease of storage and processing, and lower susceptibility to interference. While analog audio is often considered to have a warmer quality, digital audio offers higher fidelity, easier duplication, and more flexibility in editing and manipulation.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: The best promise I can give my clients is that everything will be done with the greatest love in the world.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love everything related to music. Every song that is born is like a child that deserves to be nurtured with love. Love is the secret—everything you do with love will turn out well.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: When producing a song, clients often ask questions about the musical style, instrumentation, song structure, budget, delivery time, and references to similar artists. It’s also common for them to inquire about the recording, mixing, and mastering process, as well as how to promote the song once it’s finished. The best response to a client’s question about music production is a combination of active listening, understanding their needs, and clearly explaining how their project will be approached. It’s essential to show genuine interest in their vision, offer tailored solutions, and maintain open and transparent communication throughout the entire process.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest mistake in music production, from the perspective of many producers, is not using high-quality reference tracks during the mixing process. This means failing to compare your work with professional productions in the same genre to properly adjust frequency balance, volume levels, and stereo space.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: When producing music for a client, it’s crucial to ask questions that help understand their vision, style, and expectations. Some key questions include: What is the main musical genre? Which artists or songs inspire you? What emotional tone do you want the music to convey? Who is your target audience? It’s also important to ask about the budget, delivery timeline, and any technical preferences (instrumentation, effects, etc.)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: That they listen to the work I’ve done, and if possible, watch some videos as well.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If I were on a desert island and had to bring 5 items with me, these are the ones I would take: a computer, an audio interface, a keyboard, microphones, and musical instruments.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Here I share part of my musical career. I have over 25 years of experience in the music world.
