Independent singer-songwriter blending emotional rap, chill pop, and humorous hip-hop.
I'm Joss Collen — an independent singer-songwriter, rapper, and creative mind from India. I craft real, raw, and genre-bending music that blends emotional rap, indie pop, chill melodies, and hilarious storytelling.
Genres:
Emotional Rap • Chill Pop • Indie/Lo-fi • Comedy Rap • Alt Hip-Hop
From deep emotional anthems inspired by artists like NF and Eminem, to quirky satirical hits like “Drama in Aisle Five”, I write, rap, sing, and develop every track with complete authenticity and creative freedom. If you've ever felt invisible, laughed at awkward moments, or danced through pain — I probably wrote a song about it.

Interview with Joss Collen
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Drama in Aisle Five” is the first song I released officially across all platforms, and it holds a special place for me. It’s a fun, chaotic, and relatable track about everyday misadventures — like spilling chai or messing up pickup lines — with a chill, comedic vibe. I wrote the lyrics, performed the vocals, recorded, and managed the entire release process independently using just my phone and earphones. Despite limited resources, I made people laugh and vibe, and that’s what music is about for me.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m building two albums — one deep and emotional with raw rap, and another fun, sarcastic, and relatable with funny storytelling tracks. Also working on comedy-style songs for content creators and gamers.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not personally yet, but always open to collaborate and uplift talented artists who bring heart to their work.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital — because I work smart and mobile. It gives me flexibility, speed, and reach. But I still bring warmth and raw emotion into the sound, like analog does.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I’ll treat your project like my own — with honesty, creativity, and full commitment. You’ll get original lyrics, emotional weight or comic fire (your call), and 100% attention to detail,as long as I'm getting good paid hahaha just joking but ofcourse it's true right everybody works for money duh.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love turning raw thoughts into sound. Whether it’s an emotional story or a funny twist, I enjoy making something that connects with people and sticks in their head — and heart, and mostly time i am singing and humming tunes and sometimes it forms into ideas haha.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Question:Can you write something viral or trending?” My answer: I can’t guarantee viral, but I can promise authentic, relatable, catchy music that connects. That’s what actually becomes viral.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it’s just writing lyrics and recording vocals. Nah — it’s storytelling, understanding audience emotions, branding the sound, and making every line hit right, and most people think I'm using Ai to generate my whole lyrics and all but it's not like i use Ai for everything yeah I do use like others but more like Ironman using his Jarvis just for Assistance and a little refinements.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Hmm well let's see.. 1.What vibe are you aiming for: emotional, funny, chill, or savage? 2.Do you want storytelling or catchy hooks? 3.What’s your timeline and budget? 4.Any artists/songs you want the sound to match or feel inspired by? That would be enough I think to understand better.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who’s real. I don’t just create tracks — I build experiences. If you want music that hits hearts or makes people laugh out loud, I’m your guy. I bring ideas, energy, and full creative vision.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My phone (with offline DAW, Bandlab), a solid mic, wired earphones, power bank (solar if possible), and a notebook for lyrics — because even stranded, I’ll still drop bars.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: So before that my career path was making fun t and comedy videos for YouTube and instagram more like vine videos and I was quite influenced by Lele pons videos and her team and BB ki vines indian YouTuber comedian but after waiting for so long for a perfect moment my time was passing by "without me" (you know what I mean haha) even realising I'm getting older and time is moving on I was also loved to sing other singer songs like neffex, Eminem, surface and imagine dragons i even posted short videos in my YouTube singing those songs and from 2025 i started making my own music and posted on my youtube on April my first song "Echoes of you" emotional song bout a girl (my crush) i missed and a funny song bout my life "Drama in aisle five" in July I think yup that's it more masterpieces are coming in future.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is unpredictable, honest, and relatable. I blend emotion with humor, pain with power, and keep my music real to life. Whether it’s a joke or a breakdown — it’s me, raw and real.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd like to work with NF for the emotional depth and energy, and eminem for his Hard God level Rap actually if it's somehow possible I'd love to collaborate with eminem with his Hard rap and my melodious Singing in middle might Trend and break internet haha I mean who knows what's possible right working with a god is Different vibe on its own.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t wait for a perfect setup — create with whatever you have. Your phone mic, earphones, and raw voice can still tell a story better than a studio if the emotion is real. Authenticity always wins.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on emotional rap, chill pop, funny internet-style bangers, and motivational anthems. From NF-style deep verses to savage, comedic storytelling like BB Ki Vines or meme rap, I explore all vibes with a unique twist.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Writing impactful lyrics that connect — whether it’s comedy, pain, or motivation. I turn everyday moments and real-life emotions into lines that feel raw, fresh, and powerful. And I work fast — even creating songs within 2 days.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring real emotion, unique concepts, and catchy hooks that stick. Whether it’s a funny twist, deep message, or pure vibe, I make sure the song hits hard and feels personal. Every track I touch has to mean something or make someone move.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with the mood—whether it's heartbreak, hustle, or humor. Then I write lyrics that match the vibe, often experimenting with flow and rhyme in real-time. I record using my phone, tweak in Bandlab Mobile, and make sure every track has a catchy hook or relatable moment. My goal is to finish songs fast without losing the spark—sometimes even within 2 days.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup is simple but effective. I use a smartphone, basic earphones, and Bandlab Mobile to record, mix, and write. It's a mobile home studio, and despite limited gear, I make sure the vocals and energy hit the listener right where it matters.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by NF for his emotional intensity, Eminem for his unmatched flow, and bruno mars Soft Pop singing style while I'm also inspired by many artists not just some it's kinda like I respect everyone a d every artist hard work so I'm kinda learning guy from different artist personality and songs and apply that in my songs.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I create catchy, emotion-packed songs from scratch—whether it's soft melodic tunes, fun comedy rap, or deep storytelling lyrics. I help people turn their raw ideas or emotions into full songs that vibe with modern listeners, especially the youth. Whether it’s chill, emotional, or savage and funny, I deliver vocals, lyrics, and concepts that stand out.
