Interview with Antoun

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of writing and singing my own song called “Prison of Mind,” which explores the struggle of trying to find love. I wrote the lyrics and melody myself and performed the vocals. Though it’s not released yet, it’s a deeply personal project that captures real emotion and growth, and I’m excited to share it soon.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment, I’m juggling several projects: writing and producing my own original songs that dive into themes like love, personal growth, and overcoming challenges. I’m also collaborating with a few artists, helping them develop custom lyrics and melodies mainly within pop, acoustic, and R&B styles. Alongside this, I’m experimenting with new songwriting techniques and vocal arrangements to keep evolving my craft and bring fresh sounds to every project.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I’m still building my network on SoundBetter, but I’m always open to collaborating with talented producers and musicians. When I find professionals whose style and quality match my standards, I’ll gladly recommend them to my clients.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I appreciate both, but I lean toward digital for its flexibility and convenience in songwriting and production. It lets me quickly capture ideas, experiment with sounds, and edit easily. That said, I love analog warmth for recording vocals or instruments to add character and depth.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to listen closely to your vision and deliver honest, heartfelt lyrics that truly reflect your story. I’m committed to clear communication, timely delivery, and making sure you’re proud of the final song.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about my job is helping people express their deepest emotions through song. Turning someone’s story into lyrics that resonate and connect—that’s the magic that keeps me inspired every day.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Common Questions I Get:     •    Can you write in my style or genre? Absolutely! I adapt to your vision and can work across pop, R&B, ballads, and more.     •    How long does it take? Usually 3–7 days depending on complexity and revisions.     •    Do you help with melodies or just lyrics? I can write lyrics and craft melodies starting at the piano, or work with your existing ideas.     •    How many revisions do I get? Typically 1–2 rounds included to make sure you’re happy.     •    Who owns the rights? You get full rights after payment, and I only keep anonymous portfolio use unless you prefer otherwise.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That songwriting is just about writing pretty words. In reality, it’s about storytelling, emotion, structure, and melody — crafting something that truly connects and moves people. It’s both an art and a craft.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A:     •    What’s the story or emotion you want the song to convey?     •    Do you have a specific style, mood, or artist vibe in mind?     •    Is there a melody or chord progression already, or do you want me to create one?     •    Are there any phrases, words, or themes you want included?     •    Who’s the target audience or listener for the song?     •    Do you want a full song, just a chorus, or specific parts written?     •    What’s your timeline and any deadlines?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be clear about your vision and communicate openly—sharing your story, emotions, and any musical ideas helps me create lyrics that truly fit you. Collaboration and honest feedback make the best songs.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. My piano keyboard — to create melodies anywhere. 2. A portable condenser microphone — for recording ideas on the spot. 3. A laptop with my DAW (Logic Pro X) — to produce and arrange tracks. 4. Headphones — to listen and refine my work. 5. A notebook and pen — for jotting down lyrics and inspiration anytime.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been writing songs for several years, starting with personal projects and performing live. Along the way, I’ve honed my craft through studio sessions, songwriting studies, and even auditioning for Australian Idol, which pushed me to grow as an artist. I also release my own songs to help people connect with and process their emotions. Now, I write for others to help bring their stories to life.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style blends heartfelt storytelling with catchy melodies, mixing acoustic warmth and modern pop vibes. It’s emotional yet accessible, with a touch of soulful R&B influence.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with James Arthur — his ability to blend raw emotion with powerful melodies really speaks to me. I connect with artists who write from the heart and aren’t afraid to be vulnerable.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Less is more. Start with just chords and melody — if it feels good stripped back, it’ll shine even more in full production. Don’t rush to add layers before the core is solid.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on pop, acoustic ballads, R&B, and upbeat tracks — songs with heartfelt lyrics, strong melodies, and a modern edge. Think James Arthur, Shawn Mendes, and a touch of R&B groove.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is turning raw emotion into honest, relatable lyrics that flow naturally with melody. I know how to capture a feeling and shape it into something people can truly connect with.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring emotion, storytelling, and a strong sense of melody to every song. Whether it’s a love song, heartbreak anthem, or feel-good track, I make sure every lyric feels real and hits home.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by understanding your vision — whether it’s a theme, story, or emotion. Then I sit at the piano, find the right chords for your style, and begin crafting a melody if one isn’t already provided. Once the melody feels right, I write lyrics that bring your idea to life. From there, I refine the song with your feedback until it’s exactly what you’re after.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work from a home studio equipped with a condenser mic, audio interface, and Logic Pro X. I use a MIDI keyboard for arrangements and vocals are recorded in a treated space for clean takes.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by artists like James Arthur, Lewis Capaldi, and Shawn Mendes — writers who blend raw emotion with strong melody. I also admire producers who create space for vocals to truly connect.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I write custom lyrics tailored to my clients’ stories, emotions, and style — whether it’s a full song, chorus, or verse. Most often, I help bring their personal ideas to life with a commercial edge.
