I’ve been working with Dimiter since 2010. I mixed with him several albums in different styles – Pop, Rock, Electronic & Latin. He is my favorite mixer to work with and he is definitely one of the best Bulgarian mixers – very accurate, very fast working.. a person you can rely on and easy to work with!

He is the Master of the mixing. I had the chance to work with him in the studio a few times , he is really quick, precise and uncompromising.
Working with him is a real pleasure. The world needs more people like him.

Interview with Dimiter Ganchev

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: My setup is - ProTools HD with most of the plugins out there. Apogee Symphony, SSL Sigma Summing Mixer, SSL Fusion, Eysia XFilter Eq, Yamaha NS10M and Amphion for monitoring.

  3. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  4. A: What do you think about the song is always the one :) then I tell everything that I like, that moves me and all the things that I will try to make better in the mix.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: I always ask for more details about the song - I would love to get the story behind the song. It's easier for me to get into their feel, especially when we work online. And if there's anything particular that they want me to pay special attention to.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: Mostly I mix records. On some projects I am recording vocals and then mix the song.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: There's no particular project. I am extremely proud of all the songs I had the pleasure to work on. It's like asking "who's your favourite child"

  11. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  12. A: Yanko Genov

  13. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  14. A: Both.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: I have to listen to music all day. I'm getting hired to experiment and enjoy music.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Don't let the money be the only factor. Taste is way more important. Look for the right taste for your project.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I started as I rapper I had a group then tried as a solo artist. Later I started mixing other local projects and fell in love with the process. Went to School for Audio Engineering for 4 years and I was working at a local studio during that time. I wanted to expand my knowledge and skill so I went twice to Mix with the Masters program. Since 2004 I've been mixing records for a living.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Mostly Pop - Urban/HipHop. But I have couple of pop-rock project as well as jazz, classical under my belt.
