Mixing and mastering engineer focused on delivering powerful, balanced mixes. I specialize in rock and metal but work with artists of all styles.
Hi! I’m a sound engineer with over 5 years of experience in recording, mixing, and mastering. I’ve mixed and mastered songs for several independent artists and built my portfolio by re-creating and refining tracks from well-known bands such as At the Gates and Jinjer as part of my professional training. One of my favorite projects was recording, drum programming, mixing, and mastering a track called INFINITY by the independent band Many Faces. I’m passionate about delivering clear, powerful mixes and maintaining open, friendly communication throughout every project.

Interview with Moses Michael - LDS Studio
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m especially proud of working with the independent band Many Faces on their first full-length album. I played an active role in the band and produced two released songs, handling the recording, engineering, and mixing. This project allowed me to fully shape the sound and bring the band’s vision to life, while applying all my technical skills to achieve a polished, professional result.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment, I’m working on mixing and mastering several independent Rock and Metal projects, while also experimenting with mixes in other genres to expand my portfolio. I focus on creating clear, powerful mixes that bring out the energy and emotion of each performance, collaborating closely with artists to make sure their vision comes through.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don’t have a specific recommendation, but I always encourage clients to look for providers with experience in their genre, strong portfolios, and positive reviews. It’s important to choose someone who communicates well and understands the artistic vision, so the collaboration will result in a mix or master that truly enhances the music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I love the warmth and unique character of analog gear — it has a sound many people appreciate, and I personally connect with it. However, I prefer working in digital because it offers a wider dynamic range, a broader frequency spectrum, and more clarity. Digital allows me to make mixes louder, cleaner, and more transparent while still preserving the musicality of the track.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to deliver mixes and masters that sound professional, powerful, and true to your artistic vision. I commit to clear communication, meeting deadlines, and working closely with you through revisions until you’re completely satisfied with the final result.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I love most about my job is helping artists bring their vision to life. There’s nothing more rewarding than taking raw recordings and transforming them into a polished, powerful mix or master that captures the emotion and energy of the performance. I enjoy the creative challenge, the technical problem-solving, and the collaboration with musicians to make their music sound its best.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients most often ask about delivery time, revisions, and what files they need to provide. I usually explain my workflow clearly: A typical mix takes 3 days, and mastering takes 2 days. The number of revisions included depends on the package, and extra revisions are $10 each. I ask them to provide properly exported stems or multitrack files, with vocals and instruments correctly panned and aligned, so I can deliver the best results. I also answer questions about tone, reference tracks, or any creative ideas they have, making sure we’re on the same page before I start.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that mixing and mastering is just about making a song louder or adding effects. In reality, it’s about balance, clarity, and bringing out the emotion and energy of the performance. A good mix or master enhances the song while staying true to the artist’s vision, making every instrument and vocal sit perfectly in the arrangement.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: When I start a project, I ask questions that help me understand the client’s vision and technical needs: Song/Project Files: Can you provide stems or multitrack files? Which DAW are you using? Reference Track: Do you have a reference or example of the sound you want? Song Length: What is the total length of the song? Number of Tracks: How many stems or tracks are included? Genre & Style: What genre is the song, and what vibe are you aiming for? Vocal Info: Are vocals edited or tuned? Do you need comping or tuning? Mix Preferences: Any preferences for tone, loudness, or instrument balance? Deadline: When do you need the mix or master delivered? Additional Notes: Any extra details I should know before starting? These questions help me deliver a mix or master that matches the artist’s vision perfectly.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice is to choose someone who listens carefully to your vision and communicates clearly throughout the process. Look for a provider with experience in your genre, attention to detail, and a portfolio that demonstrates their ability to bring out the best in a song. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and provide reference tracks — collaboration is key to getting the sound you want.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Ableton Live 12 – my main DAW for recording, editing, and mixing. Avid MBOX Studio – a reliable audio interface for all inputs and outputs. ADAM T7V monitors – for accurate reference and critical listening. Audio-Technica AT2020 microphone – versatile for vocals and instruments. Line 6 POD X3 Live – for guitar and bass processing, effects, and amp simulations. These five pieces allow me to record, mix, and produce music with clarity and creativity, even in a minimal setup.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been a guitarist since I was 13, and music has always been the center of my life. Although I explored paths outside of music over the years, I always found myself drawn back to it. Seven years ago, I decided to take my passion seriously and enrolled in a sound engineering program, turning my love for music into a professional career. After two years of studies, I gained experience working in live sound for theater and events, but I mainly run my home studio, where I focus on recording, mixing, and mastering projects for artists and bands.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is clear, powerful, and detail-oriented. I focus on creating mixes that are balanced and dynamic, with each instrument and vocal sitting perfectly in the arrangement. I aim to enhance the energy and emotion of the performance while keeping the artist’s vision intact.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with a band like Jinjer or At The Gates. Their music is dynamic, powerful, and full of emotion, which challenges me to bring out every detail in the mix while keeping the intensity and energy of their performance. Working with artists of this caliber would push me to refine my craft and deliver professional, impactful mixes.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always focus on getting the best possible sound at the source before mixing. Well-recorded tracks make everything easier later — no amount of plugins can fix a poorly captured performance. Spend time on mic placement, gain staging, and making sure the tone feels right from the start.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work on Rock and Metal projects — from modern metalcore to classic hard rock — but I also enjoy mixing other genres like pop, indie, and electronic music. My experience in heavy genres has given me a strong foundation in clarity, punch, and dynamics that I apply to any style I mix.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is creating balanced, powerful mixes that translate well across all playback systems. I have a great ear for detail and dynamics, and I’m skilled at bringing clarity and impact to even the most complex arrangements — while keeping the artist’s vision front and center.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity, balance, and emotion to every song. My goal is to make each instrument and vocal sit perfectly in the mix while keeping the energy and feeling of the performance intact. I focus on enhancing what’s already great in the recording — giving it punch, depth, and definition so it sounds powerful and professional on any system.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process starts with carefully listening to the client’s reference tracks and understanding their artistic vision. Once I receive the multitracks, I organize and clean the session, making sure every element is properly labeled and aligned. Then I begin the mix — balancing levels, EQing, compressing, and adding creative effects to enhance the song’s energy and character. After I’m satisfied with the mix, I send a preview for feedback and make revisions based on the client’s notes. For mastering, I focus on achieving clarity, punch, and loudness while keeping the dynamics natural. Communication is key throughout the process — I keep clients updated and make sure they’re 100% happy with the final result.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is fully acoustically treated and equipped for professional mixing and recording. I work on a high-performance computer running Ableton Live 12, paired with an Avid MBOX Studio audio interface. Monitoring is done through ADAM T7V studio monitors, along with two pairs of reference headphones — AKG K240 and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. The studio also includes several guitar setups: Vox Pathfinder 15W and Fender Frontman 100W amps, a Line 6 POD X3 Live, and various pedals and effects. I use two electric guitars (Schecter Demon 6 and PRS SE Mark Holcomb) and a Sterling by Music Man bass. For recording, I have an Audio-Technica AT2020 and a Shure SM57 replica, providing flexibility for vocals and instruments alike.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by engineers and producers who bring both technical precision and emotion to their mixes — people like Chris Lord-Alge, Andrew Scheps, and Serban Ghenea. I love how they make every element fit together while keeping the music alive and dynamic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work focuses on mixing and mastering songs for independent artists and bands. I specialize in creating clear, powerful, and balanced mixes that translate well on all systems. I often receive multitracks that I edit, balance, and process to bring out the best in every element while keeping the artist’s vision in mind.
