Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: Estoy especialmente orgulloso de mi trabajo en El Cancionero de Cienfuegos. Fue un proyecto literario de rescate cultural donde pude reconectar con mis raíces y honrar la memoria musical de mi ciudad natal. Como escritor de alma sensible, reuní, reviví y preservé canciones para que nunca fueran olvidadas. Este proyecto me permitió unir mi formación artística con mi amor por el patrimonio cubano, creando un libro que resguarda las voces, las melodías y las emociones de varias generaciones. No fue solo una publicación… fue un acto de gratitud hacia el lugar que me formó. I am especially proud of my work on El Cancionero de Cienfuegos. It was a cultural–rescue literary project where I was able to reconnect with my roots and honor the musical memory of my hometown. As a writer with a sensitive soul, I gathered, revived, and preserved songs so they would never be forgotten. This project allowed me to merge my artistic background with my love for Cuban heritage, creating a book that safeguards the voices, melodies, and emotions of generations. It wasn’t just a publication—it was an act of gratitude to the place that shaped me.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: En nuevos temas propios de salsa y música latina, y en colaboraciones vocales para artistas independientes. New salsa and Latin tracks of my own, as well as vocal collaborations for independent artists.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Amo el calor analógico pero trabajo digital por su versatilidad y velocidad. En definitiva, lo importante no es la herramienta, sino cómo hace vibrar la emoción. I love analog warmth, but I work digitally for its versatility and speed. In the end, the tool matters less than how well it carries the emotion.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: Entregar un trabajo honesto, profesional y lleno de sentimiento. Nunca doy menos de lo que una canción merece. To deliver work that is honest, professional, and filled with emotion. I never give less than what a song deserves.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Que cada canción es una vida nueva. Y me encanta ver cómo un cliente se emociona cuando escucha su proyecto terminado. That every song is a new life. And I love seeing a client’s reaction when they hear their finished project.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Lo que más me preguntan es: “¿Crees que puedas darle mi toque personal a esta canción?” Y siempre respondo: “Claro, pero primero déjame escuchar tu historia.” Para mí, cada artista tiene un pulso, un acento, una manera única de sentir. Cuando entiendo eso, puedo construir la interpretación, el arreglo o la guía vocal que realmente los representa. No imito: traduzco lo que sienten. The question I hear the most is: “Do you think you can give this song my personal touch?” And I always respond: “Of course—but first, let me hear your story.” Every artist has a pulse, an accent, a unique way of feeling. When I understand that, I can shape the interpretation, arrangement, or vocal guide that truly represents them. I don’t imitate—I translate what they feel.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: Que algunos piensan que cantar o producir “es simplemente grabar”. La realidad es que detrás hay técnica, sensibilidad, verdad, dirección y muchas horas de preparación. Some people think singing or producing is just “recording.” The truth is there’s technique, sensitivity, honesty, direction, and many hours of preparation behind every performance.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: Pregunto por su referencia musical, tipo de publico, por el estado emocional de la canción, por sus expectativas y por el mensaje que desean dejar en el público. I ask about their musical references, target audience, the emotional tone of the song, their expectations, and the message they want to leave with listeners.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Que venga con una visión clara de lo que quiere sentir con su canción. Si sabe lo que desea transmitir, yo puedo transformarlo en sonido. Come with a clear sense of what you want to feel in your song. If you know what you want to express, I can turn that into sound.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Mi micrófono, una interfaz sencilla, audífonos de referencia, laptop con mi DAW principal y un cuaderno donde escribir melodías y letras. My microphone, a simple audio interface, reference headphones, my laptop with my main DAW, and a notebook for melodies and lyrics.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: Comencé a los 8 años en la agrupación infantil Ismaelillo, donde estuve hasta los 21 años. Allí me formé en música, teatro y declamación. Recibí avales y reconocimientos culturales por mi trabajo artístico en Cienfuegos, Cuba. Desde entonces he sido cantante solista, productor, animador, actor y director de escena en múltiples proyectos. En total, llevo más de 15 años vinculado al arte. I started at age 8 in the children’s group Ismaelillo, where I stayed until I was 21. There I trained in music, theater, and spoken performance. I received artistic and cultural recognition for my work in Cienfuegos, Cuba. Since then, I’ve been a solo singer, producer, host, actor, and stage director in many projects. Altogether, I’ve been connected to the arts for over 15 years.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Clásico y contemporáneo a la vez. Tengo alma salsera y romántica, corazón de bolerista y una sensibilidad teatral que me permite contar historias con matices. Classic and contemporary at the same time. I have the soul of a salsero and a romantic, the heart of a bolerista, and a theatrical sensitivity that helps me tell stories with nuance.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Me gustaría trabajar algún día con Marc Anthony o Leoni Torres por su fuerza interpretativa y su capacidad de transmitir emoción pura. También con otros artistas cubanos que mantienen viva la raíz. I’d love to work with Marc Anthony or Leoni Torres someday because of their powerful interpretation and ability to transmit pure emotion. Also with other Cuban artists who keep our roots alive.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Nunca te enamores de la primera versión. La producción es un viaje: prueba texturas, silencios y colores. A veces, el mejor ingrediente es el espacio. Don’t fall in love with the first version. Production is a journey: experiment with textures, silence, and colors. Sometimes the best ingredient is space.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Principalmente en música cubana y latina: salsa, son, bolero, balada latina, música tropical y fusiones modernas. Mainly Cuban and Latin music: salsa, son, bolero, Latin ballads, tropical genres, and modern fusions.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: La interpretación vocal y la dirección escénica del sonido: entender qué necesita una canción emocionalmente y cómo llevarla a su punto más alto. Vocal interpretation and the artistic direction of sound—understanding what a song needs emotionally and guiding it to its highest expression.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Aporto identidad, expresión y alma latina. Soy cantante, actor y declamador, por eso mi interpretación no solo suena… dice. Le doy intención, dinámica y sensibilidad para que la historia cobre vida. I bring identity, expression, and Latin soul. I’m a singer, actor, and spoken-word performer, so my interpretation doesn’t just sound—it speaks. I add intention, dynamics, and sensitivity so the story truly comes to life.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: Primero escucho al cliente: su visión, sus emociones y el mensaje que quiere transmitir. Luego desarrollo una guía conceptual, grabo las ideas vocales o musicales y ajusto cada detalle hasta que la canción respire de forma natural. Me gusta trabajar de manera cercana y con retroalimentación continua. I begin by listening to the client—their vision, emotions, and the message they want to deliver. Then I develop a conceptual guide, record vocal or musical ideas, and refine every detail until the song feels organic and alive. I like working closely with constant feedback.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: Mi estudio es compacto pero muy funcional. Trabajo con una interfaz de audio confiable, micrófono de condensador para capturar matices cálidos, monitores de referencia y un entorno acústicamente controlado. Utilizo herramientas digitales que me permiten grabar, editar y mezclar de manera rápida y precisa. My studio is compact but very functional. I work with a reliable audio interface, a condenser microphone that captures warm nuances, reference monitors, and an acoustically controlled space. I use digital tools that allow me to record, edit, and mix quickly and precisely.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: Me inspiran grandes arquitectos del sonido latino como Juan Formell, Adalberto Álvarez, Los Van Van, Elena Bourke, Marc Anthony y productores modernos que combinan tradición y frescura. También admiro a artistas cubanos que lograron mantener viva la esencia de nuestras raíces. I’m inspired by great architects of Latin sound such as Juan Formell, Adalberto Álvarez, Los Van Van, Elena Burke, Marc Anthony, and modern producers who blend tradition with freshness. I also admire Cuban artists who have kept our roots alive.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Lo más común es la creación vocal: grabación de voces principales, armonías, coros y guías interpretativas. También realizo dirección artística, producción conceptual y arreglos para darle coherencia y emoción a las canciones de mis clientes. The most common work I do is vocal creation: recording lead vocals, harmonies, backing vocals, and interpretive guides. I also provide artistic direction, conceptual production, and arrangements to bring coherence, depth, and emotion to my clients’ songs.
