I’m a Melbourne-based mixer/mastering engineer who loves taking raw tracks and turning them into releases artists are proud of. I’ve mixed/mastered for Serpentry, Electric Funeral, Bush Wizard, and The Shy, and I specialise in powerful, spacious mixes that translate everywhere.
Hi, I’m Dimitrios Papalaskaris, a Melbourne-based mixing & mastering engineer with a background in sound design for film and a passion for creating bold, dynamic, and emotionally rich mixes. I’ve worked with artists across rock, metal, alt, psych, and indie, including Serpentry, Electric Funeral, Bush Wizard, and The Shy.
My approach is simple:
Serve the song. Elevate the artist. Deliver mixes that translate everywhere.
I combine technical precision with a musical ear, ensuring your track has impact, clarity, and personality — without losing the raw energy you started with. I work in a hybrid setup with high-quality digital tools and analog-inspired processing, offering punchy drums, full and controlled low end, spacious vocals, and clean, modern masters ready for streaming.

Great guy, worked with him on other projects, couldn’t have have anyone better to work with.

Dimitri was great to work with. He’d done an amazing job getting our debut EP recorded, mixed and mastered and was very patient with all the band members conflicting ideas during the process

Dimitri’s talent is second to none, he always delivers on time and he’s a pleasure to work with. Dimitri has helped me in a range of projects ranging from sound production all the way to mastering my DJ mixes. Whether it’s a quick master of a live set, or recording instrumentals, Dimitri has always delivered high quality work fit for purpose.
Interview with Dimitrios Papalaskaris
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Hearing an artist’s reaction when their song finally sounds the way they imagined. I love taking raw recordings and elevating them into something emotionally powerful and professionally finished.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The artist’s or band’s performance and the recording quality largely determine the mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mainly mix and master rock / metal music. I have also worked on EDM music. I am not limited to any specific genre and I'm more than happy to work with any music styles. I also work on audio post for film, which strengthens my ability to shape atmosphere and depth in music mixes.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Balancing a mix so every element has space and purpose.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity, balance, and enhancements to the energy that was captured in the recording studio. My focus is always on serving the artist’s vision — whether that means making a mix sound bigger, cleaner, warmer, or more aggressive. I prioritise communication so we’re always aligned on references and goals, and I mix with both technical precision and musical intent.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the demo/reference tracks and discuss the vibe. You send stems, labelled and exported cleanly. I build a first pass mix and send it for your notes. We go through revisions until everything is exactly right. I deliver final mixes (and masters if chosen) in full resolution and streaming-ready formats.
