Hi, I'm Benji. Working from my Zurich-based studio, I produced for artists with over 1 mill. streams on Spotify, wrote songs for one of The Voice finalists and worked with artists who were signed with a Major. The last 6 years I worked with international & local artists. I specialize in production & toplining, focusing on Pop & Electronic Music.
My competence and approach stand out, by helping the artist to visualize his/her authentic emotion. Defining the vision and staying focused on that, throughout the process is key. To work like this and still hold space for creativity, is the realm I want to open for every artist. I achieve this, by understanding the artist's individual needs and provide them with my ideas and expertise.
Through more than 15 years experience as a Multi-Instrumentalist, I was able to establish a highly trained ear, when it comes to music production. By receiving professional training through Berklee Online (Mixing & Music Production), I developed the skill set to create Full Productions & Demo Productions, in a competent and efficient way. I'm comfortable to produce any Genre, however, my passion and specialty is Pop Music.
Production / Writing Highlights:
– Vocal Production (Recording, Editing, Comping, Tuning, etc.)
– Drum Programming
– Synth & Keys
– Full & Demo Productions
Throughout my years of experience and by being part of Soundbetter, I have met many wonderful and talented artists all around the world. I was able to accumulate a big network of musicians, that inspire me and that I can come back to, if needed for a project.

Mixing a song Benji produced was a fantastic experience from start to finish! He's the ideal creative person and partner. Talented, organized, thorough, and collaborative with an A+ communication style. I sincerely hope to work with Benji again soon!
Benji was awesome to work with – really great and personable and was very flexible around my busy schedule and the final product was exactly what I was looking for. Will definitely work with again!
Clear feedback and workflow, great energy, he is a wonderful person to work with!
Benjamin was a pleasure to work with. For an acoustic album (lineup sax, piano, and vocals) it was a pleasure to hear the details and subtlety with which he treated the project, and we even had a conversation about the artistic choice of whether the vocals should sit on top of the instruments or blend into the chordal space of it all based on song interpretation and the mood of the overall music. Great to have someone with those opinions on your team!
Went above and beyond all my expectations. Really understood my vision for the project before even touching it so that we were always on the same page, and communicated and shared ideas at an elite level. Outstanding job!
Such professional, punctual and super easy to work with. Would highly recommend! Looking forward to future projects with Benjamin.

So easy to work with Benjamin! Great communication and great music!!!
Very pleased with not only the end product but everything in-between. Ben was really professional and kept an open mind and open line of communication which I feel helped bring the song to life!
Benji got to work straight away on the project had a mix/master back within a day that was outstanding said he would have another listen with fresh ears and that was it, superb quality job complete within days already looking to get another song mix/mastered in the near future.
Benji was a consummate professional who provided a much improved vocal mix. He was timely with his results and patient with my client who had some unusual requests due to the nature of her novelty track. Would be happy to recommend his work and hire him again for other projects.
I had a great experience with Benjamin! He was responsive, thoughtful, patient, and had great ideas. I'm really happy with the final product and hope to work on more music with Benji in the future.
This was my first project with Benji. He promises to take all the time you need and doesn’t limit you to a number of revisions (fair use policy....). However, his first mix was perfect the first delivery, no revision needed so he could master right away. Doing a second project with Benji again as I’m very satisfied!
So precise and professional. Super talented and friendly as well 👌🏻
Great producer, he somehow got the idea we had in mind with so smooth and easy communication. He talks and breaths music and we felt in good care with his talent. Great sounds and vibe. Definitely will work with him again 💪🏻
Benji was great to work with to help improve my mix! Looking forward to more projects!
Interview with Benjamin Alasu
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is Pop! But not the Pop from the 90's. I love the new vibe of Pop Music, which implements some dark and mellow elements, mixed up with cool electronic beats. Pop nowadays is a mixture of more genres and I love that!
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am proud of many beautiful songs, that I was able to be a part of. However, a recent one, that I am especially proud of is called "Curious" by Luca Aprile. You can find the song in my profile. I was the topliner and co-producer of this record. It was an exciting process working on it and seeing it all come together, becoming the catchy song it is now.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm always on the hunt, to find amazing artists to work with. The last few years, I also started to meet with artists from all over the world, which I try to visit on a regular basis.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I worked with Jamie Muscat a couple of years ago, when I lived in Sydney, Australia. He's a phenomenal mixing engineer and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a Mixing & Mastering Engineer. Also Nicolas M. is an amazing Artist and singer. I worked with him a couple of months ago and it was a huge pleasure creating a song for him.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Artists usually ask me, if I would be happy to listen in to their ideas and help them to shape it into a song. I love to do that, but mostly I tell them, that I first want to figure out if they have a specific vision for said song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your musical identity? What are you looking for specifically? What's your vision for this project? What's the deadline?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Find someone who is interested in understanding your idea and who helps you to get the best out of you. An open, respectful and clear communication is key for success. Be open to new ideas, but don't forget that you are the one in charge.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing music for my whole life. I got my first experiences from playing in different bands and projects. The older I got, the more I realised that I want to be a producer and songwriter, to help artists to find their voice and produce their songs! The last 6 years I had the opportunity, to work with many great international and local artists.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Man, there are so many! Right now my favourite would be Charlie Puth. He is a genius and he combines musical cleverness with commercial music!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: The centerpiece is my UAD Apollo Twin interface. I love it because I'm traveling a lot. I do record all the vocals with a VMS-ML 1. This microphone is a total game-changer in the time of digital music production. I love to work with my analog synthesizer (Juno 60 & Prophet 6), to give my records more character.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: In the past, I worked on some Electronic, Hip Hop and Film Music projects, but now my focus is mostly on Pop Music. Right now I love the contemporary styles of Lauv, SHAE and Mokita.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Benny Blanco, Ian Kirkpatrick, Ross Golan, Lauv, Oak Felder, Timbaland, OZ
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: The song is not finished until the client is happy.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Creating music, meeting new people and sharing the connection that happens while writing/producing music together.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some people assume, that I am just a classical Piano Player.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am a team player! To me, a project is a success, when my clients are happy and I accomplished to bring out the best of them.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I create an arrangement and a melody, that emphasizes the emotion of the song. It is also important for me, to open up a space of creativity, to give the song the opportunity to go in whatever direction it is meant to go.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be scared to try out new things. Just do it.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: You can do beautiful things with both.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Midi-Keyboard, Guitar, Audio Interface, Microphone
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start, by getting in tune with the artist's vision. Then I prepare 2-3 song ideas, that I present to the client. After that we start working together, to shape the song and give it the right direction.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of all, I do production work for my clients. Many of them have a song in their heart, but don't know how to create it, with all the production parts to it. I bring their ideas together with my knowledge and expertise, to create the song they had in mind, and maybe even better. ;)
