Endorse Jim McGee/SpectraSoundTop-notch equipment with an even better engineer. Jim not only has all the right stuff, he gives a crap about the mix and does everything he can to really make it stand out. It's hard to find engineers who have a great sense of originality and to really understand how a band wants to not only sound, but feel on a record. Go with experience and personality when looking for a studio, this man has both.
Jim is top notch! I had the pleasure of being involved ,along with multi-Grammy winning producer and drummer Bill Goodwin ,in the mixing of "The Guitar Trio:Live at the Deer Head Inn". Bill produced and supervised the mix .Jim also was the live engineer of that recording, and he captured, and mixed the sounds of the 3 guitars magnificently. Bucky Pizzarelli,Ed Laub, and myself constitute the "Trio".I also have had the pleasure of visiting the new studio location, and hearing some of his latest projects, and was literally blown away by the sounds and set up. Recommended as highly as possible.
