Monica da Silva is a Brazilian American singer songwriter. Her music has been featured on the Putumayo World Music compilation "Brazilian Beat" and during the 2014 coverage of The World Cup on ESPN.
In her music, which Mônica describes as Indie Nova, she neatly brings together her Brazilian and American sides, making softly sensual indie pop that casts its tendrils around Rio MPB (Brazilian popular music). “Da Silva is doing something unique with Brazilian music, following her own Muse, and sounding spectacular ”, says Chris Nickson (The NPR Curious Listener’s Guide To World Music). Putumayo World Music included Mônica’s “Aí Então” on their compilation “Brazilian Beat”. Mônica's song "That's Not The Way" was just featured in the ESPN coverage of the World Cup 2014. She is currently in the studio recording a brand new EP, a follow-up to her 2011 release “Brasilissima”.
Monica co-founded Socialite Fiasco Music in 2008. Socialite Fiasco is a boutique music house providing services in music production, composition, mixing, licensing and voice over. Many of Monica's songs have been featured on major TV networks. Monica has written and co-written hundreds of tracks in all different styles available for use in film and television.
