Interview with Andrey Paschenko

  1. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  2. A: Customers often ask about turnaround times, the number of revisions, and any extra costs for fast delivery or additional tweaks. They also want to know what file formats work best (usually WAV) and the key steps of the process. I typically explain that with well-prepared stems and clear instructions, you'll get 2-3 revisions, a delivery time of 3–5 days depending on the package, and extra fees apply for rushed orders or extra versions like, acapella, live version or separate stems. Clear communication makes all the difference!

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: A key misconception is that mixing and mastering are "one-click" processes—people sometimes think it’s just about pressing a button. It's a detailed, creative process that balances technical finesse with artistic intuition to polish a track truly.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: I usually start by asking my clients about their overall vision. What sound are they chasing, and what’s the vibe of the project? After that, I dig into the details: I want to know what stems they have (preferably in WAV), any reference tracks they’re loving, specific effects or quirks they want, and of course, the timeline they have in mind.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Make sure you’re clear about what you need: high-quality stems, specific references or goals, and open communication. I thrive on detailed input, so the more specifics you provide, the better your mix and masters will turn out. Be ready to experiment and make adjustments too; strong projects often develop through honest feedback.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: If I were stranded, I would probably choose my most essential tools: a laptop loaded with PreSonus Studio One to keep my creative work going, a high-quality audio interface, a pair of trusted studio headphones for reality-checking my mixes, a compact reference monitor setup (or something that gets close), and a solid plugin suite to keep my sound fresh.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: This journey began in 2012, and since then, I've worked on over 10,000 tracks. That's over a decade of refining my craft!

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My style is all about clean, balanced mixes that retain the track’s personality. I focus on clarity and dynamic impact, ensuring each element shines while coming together for a polished finish.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I love working with artists who push creative boundaries. If we had to name someone, working with a visionary like Kendrick Lamar would be epic. His blend of raw storytelling and innovative production really inspires a process that brings out the best in each track.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Focus on creating space in your mix - ensure that each instrument or vocal occupies its own place in the frequency spectrum, preventing overcrowding. This can truly enhance the clarity and punch of your track.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I primarily work on hip-hop and rap tracks, where I feel my expertise really shines. However, I’m also well-versed in mixing other genres like pop, trap, and even some rock and EDM projects when the vibe calls for it.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: I believe my strongest skill is mixing and mastering. People say I have an ear for balance and detail, making sure every element in your track genuinely resonates.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: I bring a professional touch that transforms raw tracks into a polished, radio-ready sound. I carefully balance and clean up each element, ensuring every beat, vocal, and instrument shines brilliantly. On top of that, I add creative effects and subtle nuances that give a song its unique vibe.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: I begin by requesting you to send your audio stems in the appropriate format, such as WAV files, along with any references, comments, or special requests. After gathering the materials, I review everything to ensure it meets our standards before I start mixing and mastering. During this process, we will have a collaborative exchange: I will apply effects, adjust the balance, and provide a draft for your feedback, making revisions as necessary afterward.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I use PreSonus Studio One 7 along with top-notch plugins and monitors audio devices to ensure every mix hits just right.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: My inspirations come from a broad mix of legendary producers and sound engineers. I'm influenced by the iconic work found in hip-hop as well as the cinematic polish seen in film and TV sound design. It’s more about drawing lessons from various industry pioneers rather than sticking to just a few names.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: It involves cleaning up the stems, balancing levels, adding essential effects, and polishing the overall sound to give that professional, radio-ready feel
