Born in Washington D.C., R&B Guitarist and Songwriter Dante Alston was known to have a penchant for melodies at a young age. With no formal training, Alston is entirely self-taught on guitar and composes many of his own instrumentals. Inspired by artists such as John Mayer and Ms. Lauryn Hill, his signature melodic acoustic approach can be found at the root of much of his music.
“Making music is more than just an expression of art for me,” says Alston, “...it’s almost like a form of therapy so I’m very protective of who’s involved in the writing and production process. Usually it’s just myself and an engineer... So I can appreciate the sensitivity of being invited to play on someone else's song, it's really an honor.”
Alston's signature styles merges traditional acoustic arpeggios with an alternative R&B flare.
