It was such a fun track to work on! It was also analog-tape mastered (lovely!) and Nick is such a nice guy! A fantastic gig.

Interview with Nick Drive
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm a chameleon, I do different styles.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Tears for Fears or system of a down. Because why not
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop music, singer/songwriter, and EDM.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creating vocal melodies and music production (Specifically sound selection). I have an ear for sonics in instruments. What to use, and what doesn't work.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! Camilo Silva F is a great mastering engineer!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Analog has more girth, and digital is convenient.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long does it take to finish a song? It depends, sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: When people hear my music with my vocals on it, they are always surprised it's me. People think I only produce music when In fact I song write and sing just as well.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How soon would you need a song done & what are your plans for the song(s)?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be yourself!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Considering there isn't any electrical power on this island, I would take an Acoustic guitar, a cajon, some kinda wind instrument flute, a shaker, and a Steinway piano.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. It's not about production, it's about the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start recording with guitar/keys and vocals ideas, then arrange the song, then start writing the lyrics. From there the rest is easy.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: HS8 speakers, apollo interface, MacBook & Shure SM7B. I have every plugin in the book, I like working in the box. I also love my SH101, gotta have some classic gear.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Max Martin is a legend of a producer. As far as music, I like lots of 80s pop & classic rock.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Songwriting, producing, and topline work. Being in the publishing business requires me to wear a few extra hats, I enjoy it!
