I turn rough ideas into finished, release-ready records. I’m a Grammy-nominated, Platinum & Gold-certified producer, songwriter, mixing engineer and audio producer with 15+ years of experience across Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop and K-Pop.

My work includes mixing on CORTIS’ GREENGREEN project, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, along with work connected to Jordin Sparks, Chris Brown, SAINt JHN, Eric Bellinger, Elijah Blake, Snoop Dogg, Lil Duval, Lil Pump, Ty Dolla $ign and others.

Artists don’t have to come to me with a finished song. Bring me a voice memo, demo, melody, reference, loop or even a basic idea, and I can help develop it into a complete record.

I have been working with Dejuan Cross for over 10 years initially started with production and since then i have worked with him on everything from production, mixes, masters, song writing! Of all the professional producers engineers or song writers I’ve ever worked with DeJuan by far has been my favorite due to quality , time management, and just over all creative concepts as well as truly listening and delivering above expectations ! The thing that keeps me coming back is how DeJuan truly gets better even when you don’t think it’s possible!

I've been working with DeJuan for 8 years now and he truly knows how to not only bring the best out of a mix, but also the best out of a artist. Sure he can work remotely and get the job done but the real magic is working with him on things, whether it's in person on virtual. Level up cross paths with D. Cross!

Interview with DeJuan Cross

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is my work with K-Pop group CORTIS on a project that reached #3 on the Billboard 200. My role was mixing, helping shape the final sound, balance, energy, and polish of the records. I’m proud of it because it allowed me to bring my experience in Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop into the K-Pop world and contribute to a project that connected with listeners on a global level.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: I like to start by understanding the big picture: What are you trying to create, who is the audience, and what do you want the song to feel like? I also ask about references, deadlines, budget, how developed the song already is, and what you want me to handle: production, mixing, mastering, or all of the above. The clearer the vision is upfront, the better I can help bring it to life.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Look for someone who understands the song, not just the software. Be clear about your goals, references, budget, and what stage the record is in before the work starts. The best results usually come from strong communication, realistic expectations, and choosing a producer or engineer whose taste and experience fit the direction you want to go.

  7. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  8. A: Mac Studio, SSL SiX, RME ADI-2 Pro FS, Neumann TLM 107, and Moog Grandmother. That gives me a complete setup to create, record, shape, mix, and finish ideas without needing much else.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I’ve been producing and engineering music professionally for more than 15 years. I started by learning recording and production hands-on, then expanded into songwriting, engineering, mixing, and full record production. Over the years, I’ve worked across independent and major-label projects, earned Grammy nominations, Platinum and Gold certifications, and contributed to records in Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and K-Pop. My career has grown from simply making beats into helping artists take ideas from the earliest concept all the way to a finished, release-ready record.

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: My style is soulful, polished, and detail-driven with a modern edge. I like strong drums, memorable musical ideas, rich textures, and vocals that feel emotionally connected to the record. I’m versatile across Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and K-Pop, but I always focus on making the production feel intentional, musical, and true to the artist.

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: I’d love to work with Kendrick Lamar. He’s one of those artists who treats production as part of the storytelling, not just the backdrop. I’d enjoy building something that combines strong musical ideas, unconventional textures, and detailed production while still leaving space for the emotion and message of the record to lead.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Don’t add sounds just because you can. Make every element earn its place. A strong production usually has a clear focal point, intentional space, and contrast between sections. If the song already feels good with fewer elements, protect that feeling instead of overproducing it.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: I usually work on Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and K-Pop, with a strong focus on records that blend soulful musicality with modern production. I’m comfortable moving between hard-hitting hip-hop, melodic R&B, polished pop, and more experimental sounds depending on what the artist and song need.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: My process starts with understanding the artist’s vision, references, and what they want the record to feel like. From there, I can take a voice memo, demo, loop, or rough session and develop the production, arrangement, vocals, and overall sound. Once the creative direction is right, I move into detailed editing, mixing, and final polish. I stay collaborative throughout the process, but I’m also comfortable taking the lead and helping turn an unfinished idea into a complete, release-ready record.

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: I’m inspired by producers and engineers who can shape both the music and the final sound of a record. Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Rodney Jerkins, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Serban Ghenea, Manny Marroquin, and Jaycen Joshua all stand out to me. I especially admire people who can take a simple idea, find what makes it special, and develop it into something that feels complete, timeless, and unmistakably their own.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: My strongest skill is taking an idea that isn’t fully developed yet and turning it into a finished record. I can hear what a song is trying to become, then shape the production, arrangement, vocals, sound selection, and mix around that vision. I’m strongest when I can bridge the creative and technical sides and help an artist get from concept to release-ready.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: I bring both a producer’s ear and an engineer’s attention to detail. I look for what makes the song unique, then help strengthen the arrangement, production, vocals, energy, and sonics around that idea. Sometimes that means adding more; sometimes it means stripping things back. My goal is to make every element serve the record and help turn the original idea into something complete, emotional, and release-ready.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: My studio is a hybrid analog/digital setup built around Pro Tools, an SSL SiX console, Burl B2 Bomber conversion, RME ADI-2 Pro FS, and Antelope Orion. I monitor on Dynaudio LYD 48s, Yamaha NS-10s, and Avantone MixCubes. My mic collection includes a Neumann TLM 107, Stam Audio SA-800, and Shure SM7B, with outboard gear from Millennia, Warm Audio, dbx, and Lindell. I also keep synths like the Moog Grandmother, Korg Wavestate, and Waldorf Blofeld close by for production and sound design.

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: Most of my work involves taking an artist’s idea, demo, or rough production and turning it into a finished record through production, arrangement, vocal editing, mixing, and final polish. I work across Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and K-Pop.
