Rift Studios is an unexpected recording artists’ haven in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We specialize in recording, mixing, mastering, and music production. We try to make it easy to escape the daily New York City grind to focus on what really matters in a session: comfort, creativity, and an abundance of coffee.

Rift Studios embraces nature with rustic decor, unfinished pine wood lined live room, tree bark, and wood cabinetry. To meet the standards of the music industry of today, Rift Studios combines choice vintage equipment with modern high-quality outboard gear and brilliant analog-to-digital conversion. We’re constantly seeking out new instruments to be able to give the music produced here it’s own identity. Additionally, our constantly growing microphone locker includes some of the best that date back as early as the 1950s.

Rift is owned and operated by Tom Gardner, a twice Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum award winning music producer and audio engineer, including a nomination for Best Engineered Album in 2019.

He has worked throughout several mainstay recording studios in Manhattan, including eight years as head engineer at the famed Cutting Room Studios. Tom is passionate about working with both established and emerging artists, and built Brooklyn’s Rift Studios to fill a void for accessible production with unparalleled quality in sound and environment.

Tom has worked with famous artists worldwide from Chromeo, John Legend, Nick Jonas, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), to Morningsiders, Jon Bon Jovi, Mike Stern, Mark Holcomb (Periphery), Robert Randolph, and Elle King.
