Working with Saint was a wonderful experience because of amazing talent and absolute professionalism.

Her stunning vocal tone, beautiful phrasing and great musical sensibility made working with her a joy. She answered the brief perfectly, in fact she absolutely exceeded my expectation on every level.

Interview with Saint Sinner

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recorded an acappella version of "Feelin' Good" for a Jockey underwear commercial, and it was beautiful. The acapella played while watching a woman get ready for her day. Getting her son ready for school, kissing her partner goodbye and off she goes walking through the city. We arrive at the moment she gets to work, where she walks into a boxing training centre. The music drops in with the drums, piano, guitars, the whole bit... and we are in awe as she does her thing physically training police and uniformed officers. It was beautifully badass.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Saint Sinner, baby, all day every day.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: TONYB! Wonderful vocalist and songwriter as well as a gentle and powerful person.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: That it can be done by any.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: What moment, feeling or experience are you looking to give the audience through your record? Is it for driving in the car down the PCH? Or is it at 3am in the club spending cash? Festival headliner? Underground dance party? Romantic movie moment? All we need is the feeling. If you don't have it yet, we'll create it.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: Music came to me later in life. I grew up an athlete, with scholarships and awards to carry me on, but I knew it wasn't the right life for me. I moved to South Africa at 16 after high school, thus began my adoption into music. I've been a professionally successful artist for 2 years now, and am gladly only at the beginning. I look forward to all that is to come.

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: Mark Ronson, a light and genuine soul and a genius in music.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Everything is custom, so each project is different. Across the board though, I deep dive into each song and marinate for a while. Recording ideas as they come, then returning to the puzzle and identifying the matching pieces.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: Powerful and relaxed. Steezy and custom.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Luxury and design.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: There is nothing that can't be done. If you have an idea, we can tailor, customize and design it, baby. Know that I will listen to your ideas along with my intuition and we'll create exactly what you're looking for.

  23. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  24. A: Both!

  25. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  26. A: Luxury music, custom designed for you.

  27. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  28. A: 1. Grand piano 2. Headphones 3, Speakers (with a wicked subwoofer) 4. Custom Gibson Guitar 5. Ludwig Vintage Drum Kit

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Simplicity always wins.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: All :)

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: Professional studio in my own home with top of the line microphones, monitors, Moog board, Rhodes keyboard, electric and acoustic guitars, midi boards and more.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: Intuition.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Vocal features, songwriting, melody and lyrical writing.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: James Blake, Mark Ronson, Kendrick Lamar, Amy Winehouse, Skrillex
