I didn't order the gig on soundbetter but contacted Albin directly on Facebook for a collaboration. I later saw that he was promoting his soundbetter profile and wanted to write a review cause he deserve it.

I have never worked with such a versatile singer ever.
When I heard Albin's vocals I knew they're great for the lead parts, but when he recorded dubs, choirs and even detailed sounds I actually wasn't expecting, he showed a different side of what he was able to do. I'm very impressed and will recommend his talent to anyone on a professional level.

Albin has one of the smoothest and most radio-friendly voices I have ever come across in my life, and there is something extremely infectious about the way he writes his melodies.

Apart from his incredible talent, which everyone is able to identify as soon as they hear any of his songs, he is a very friendly and kind person, so interacting with him is always a pleasant experience.

Interview with Albin Loán

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked with my friends back in Stockholm 2012 and we wrote a song for Will Pan, a famous pop singer in Taiwan / China. It was such a cool experience and the song sold 600.000 copies first day.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm mixing and mastering 2-3 big projects within the HipHop scene in Sweden, two afro beat songs from Ghana and Nigeria + Costa Rician songs.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Simon Rasmussen. He's such a great lyricist.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: There's pros and cons to everything. At the end of the day, most listeners don't hear the difference, so it basically comes down to whats most efficient and cost effective. I don't own tons of analog gear and my mixes sound great with the in-the-box plugins. So I have to say digital. But analog is fun and can give those 5% extra.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Music heals myself and the world, that's why I create music. It's such a great motivation, inspiration and it just triggers my brain and soul to feel happy. I'm never as happy as in the studio.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: If I want to help them write their next song and sing on it.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I sing and that's my thing.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your vision of your song?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to my songs on Spotify, Albin Loán is my name there. You'll find a lot of various of songs, styles and so on. Mostly in english, but some in Swedish.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A computer with satallite connection, soundcard, microphone and a midi piano. I'll make my studio desk out of the palm trees. :)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My mother bought a keyboard for me when he was 6 years old and this changed everything for me. I ever since loved music and later on, about 13 years old I started to produce hip hop beats and rap. I'm 39 today so it's been a fun while. I still learn so much, everyday, specially when I'm working with the new generation. Listen is key and to understand the new era of music together with having fun.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Versatile, wicked and thinking outside the box.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Ryan Tedder, Timbaland, Pharell and Max Martin. I think they're brilliant in their ways of using sounds, simplicity and still make it energized and powerful.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: It's all about having fun with it, but at the end of the day it comes down to the details. When you see a person with too much make up and accessories, it's over done. But when people have great taste and understand the details, then it looks great. It's the same with music productions, but for our ears. Less is more, details is key combined with jjoy, happiness and patience.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, electro, EDM, RnB, Hip Hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Melodies, vocals and engineering.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When it comes to mixing and mastering, I see it like shaping a diamond, but for our ears. It's not about changing, but complementing and make sure I can enhance the songwriters, artists and the producers vision. I will help the creators and artists songs to get better and pleasent to listen to.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The first thing I always do is to make sure to have a great communication with my clients. This is important to understand the vision of the song. Then I listen many times to what's created and dive deep into the musical aspects of it to make sure I can deliver great energy to it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Neumann TLM 103, Genelec "The Ones", SSL & Apollo soundcard, Cubase 13 Pro.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mix, mastering and vocals.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To do my best to make you satisfied.
