Alfonso Perdomo

Multimedia Music Composer

Alfonso Perdomo on SoundBetter

Multimedia music composer and guitarist focused on creating and producing music for audiovisual multimedia, featured in award-winning film productions.

Scoring

I compose from jingles to epic music soundtracks for movies or related. I don't center on a specific artistic music line that encloses my style, on the contrary, my work consists in conceptualizing ideas and images into new music concepts to express a message, whatever genre or style is required.

Mixing and Mastering

I work closely with a sound studio dedicated to sound mixing and mastered based on Lima called Pixelbeat. You can check their website here: https://www.pixelbeat.pe/

I use top virtual instruments of very high quality to achieve the most realistic sound desired. Such virtual instruments are used in Hollywood productions and many film trailers across the film industry.

Interview with Alfonso Perdomo

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Picha Marangi, an African short film made by the Australian film director Nathan Collett. It won the award for best fashion film in the Bokeh Fashion Film Festival. I'm really proud of that work, not just because of the award, but because it has a really strong message about not letting hardship define you. Also, it showed me the universal power of art. For me, as a South American composer, doing the music for a short film directed by an Australian director, protagonized by a Kenyan fashion designer and showed in an international film festival in Africa proved that now day, we have no barriers and that we can work united as one worldwide culture. You can check the film here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1Nq7vSNVoo

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Use instruments with a high register to fulfill the sound of your track. The lack of high register instruments can lead to a muddy and grey sound.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: I receive the film and deeply analyze what it's trying to say. After that, I present my client a short sample of the music that could work. If approved, I'll start the full work, always sending raw samples of the current progress in every step of the work.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: Very thoughtful, nevertheless, aggressive and energetic.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Soundtracks. I like to specialize on soundtrack music because it has not an specific form or style. Any kind of music can be done to work as a soundtrack, free creativity is the only requirement for that type of music, nothing else.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Delivering the exact the feeling in music that the client wants.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: I inspired by the greatest composer of minimalism music, such as Johann Johannsson, Phillip Glass, Steve Reich...

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: Scoring short films and videos.
