I brought Oguz Can Ozcanli a pop track earlier this year, and he shaped it in a way that felt musical and intentional. As a bass player, I am picky about how the low end sits, and he gave it weight without losing clarity. The production felt alive, and the mix came together beautifully. Oguz listens, understands the artist, and brings real skill to every detail. I recommend him fully.

I worked with Oguz Can Ozcanli on a song I released earlier this year, and he elevated it in every way. His production and mix brought clarity, depth, and real emotion to the track. He listened closely, communicated clearly, and made the whole process smooth. Oguz is talented, reliable, and a pleasure to work with.

Interview with OGUZ CAN OZCANLI

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: One thing I always tell people is to focus on getting the source right before adding plugins. A clean recording, a clear idea, and a solid arrangement solve most problems before the mix even starts. When the foundation is strong, everything else becomes easier and the final sound feels more natural and polished.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I usually work on film and TV music, along with pop, electronic, and singer-songwriter projects.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: My strongest skill is blending creative writing with detailed production and mixing. I can take an idea from a simple sketch to a fully produced piece that sounds polished and emotionally connected. I am good at understanding what a project needs and shaping the sound so it feels clear, balanced, and expressive.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I bring a mix of musicality, clarity, and emotion to a song. I focus on what the song is trying to say and shape the arrangement, sound, and mix so everything feels connected. Whether I am writing, producing, or mixing, my goal is to elevate the idea without getting in the way of it. I aim to give every track a sense of depth, polish, and character that helps it stand out and feel complete.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: My process usually starts with a conversation about the project, the tone, and what the client is hoping to feel from the music. From there, I sketch ideas, build the sound palette, and write themes or cues that match the vision. Once the direction feels right, I move into full production, recording parts, shaping the arrangement, and mixing everything so it sits well with the picture. I keep clients updated throughout the process so the music develops in a way that feels collaborative and smooth.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I work with a hybrid setup built around Pro Tools and Cubase. My main vocal chain includes the Neumann Anniversary U-67, the Neumann M-149, and the Neumann KM-184, along with the AKG C414 XLII. I use Earthworks TS30 for precise detail work. For outboard, I rely on the LA-2A compressor, the Neve 1081, the SSL compressor, and SSL Sigma summing for a warm, polished finish. My main reverb is the Bricasti M7, which gives me a beautiful, natural depth across mixes.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: I get a lot of inspiration from Herbie Hancock, Hans Zimmer, and John Williams. Herbie’s freedom and creativity always push me to explore new sounds, and Zimmer’s approach to texture and energy has shaped the way I build scores. John Williams sets the bar for storytelling through melody. Their work keeps me grounded, curious, and excited about making music.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: I spend most of my time composing and mixing music for albums, film and television. Songwriters, directors, producers and singers usually come to me when they need a full musical approach for their project, from shaping the sound and writing the music to delivering a polished final mix that fits the picture. I also handle additional music, score production, and recording when a project needs something more customized.
