Indian Flute (Bansuri) player with 25+ years, I craft multi-track layered recordings. I’ve performed worldwide and record in my pro studio with base, medium, and high-pitched flutes for artists globally, any genre. Let’s create inspiring music together!
Specialising in bamboo flutes, I bring rich, layered soundscapes to your projects using doubling takes, panned effects, and stereo techniques (mono, true stereo, mid-side, Blumlein). My recordings are pristine at 96kHz/24-bit, backed by expertise in gain staging, mic positioning, and acoustics. As a seasoned session musician, I’ve worked with composers worldwide, tailoring my bansuri to fit any vision—classical, fusion, or beyond. Every track is an opportunity to refresh listeners.

My Process: My work goes beyond simply recording a single Bansuri layer. I meticulously arrange and record flute parts tailored to the client’s track, selecting a curated assortment of bass, mid, and small flutes—sometimes up to 10—to perfectly complement the composition. This process involves carefully choosing flutes and playing along with the track to understand its needs and identify fitting enhancements. My recordings aim to fully and immersively embellish the entire track or specific sections, creating a rich, layered sound. Clients often recognize the depth of this approach once they preview the initial samples.

Akshat is an absolutely phenomenal player! He's not just skilled at recording – he truly understands the role the flute plays within the mix and arrangement! This was a project with an incredibly tight timeframe, yet Akshat delivered an amazing selection of content far beyond what I expected in such a short period. From high parts to low parts to Unison layers, everything was brilliant! I'm so excited to collaborate again next time! Truly outstanding!

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I inquire whether the composer/producer has a specific style or pattern in mind or if I’m free to improvise Bansuri parts over suitable sections. I also confirm the track’s tempo (BPM) and whether it’s aligned to a click track.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Austin Leads
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I prefer the warmth of analog recording but rely on digital for its versatility. My recording chain is heavily invested in a high-quality analog preamp path to ensure pristine sound.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I’m open to collaborating with everyone across all genres. Feel free to reach out and share your track’s requirements. I take time to understand the track’s essence and tailor my flute playing accordingly, often refining through multiple takes to fully capture its spirit. Having time and flexibility helps, but I’m also adept at meeting tight deadlines. Clear and prompt communication is key, especially during recording, to keep the process fresh and dynamic.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A base flute, laptop, microphone, midi keyboard, audio interface.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been playing the flute since childhood, with over 25 years of experience. My performances span global stages, cultural exchanges, and music festivals. I have also consistently engaged in session work for many years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My flute-playing style naturally aligns with the track I'm performing on, subconsciously reflecting its inherent emotion and rhythm. As an Indian classical flutist, my style is fluid yet infused with elements of Indian classical music, adapting to the track's tone and essence.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Composing and producing flute parts - solos, interludes, layers, counter melodies etc for tracks and flute instrumentals from scratch.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: A R Rahman, Bill Brown, Amit Trivedi, Hans Zimmer
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Microphone gain staging and positioning and room correction helps a lot for clean and effective tracking. The magic is in tracking well and not in post production.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My own compositions are meditative, world or experimental. But as a sessions musician, I was fortunate to work with all kinds of genres and artists.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The Indian bamboo flute, or Bansuri, offers a captivating vibrato and a soothing, resonant tone, especially in its bass register. My playing infuses tracks with the essence of Indian classical music, adding soulful interludes or layered textures. This creates an uplifting or contrasting effect, transporting listeners to an evocative, immersive world before seamlessly returning them to the track’s core.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I receive a track or an idea from the composer/producer, I would then work on providing different flavors as samples. After an initial feedback as to what direction the composer wants me to go with, I would then work on entire composition or the intended parts of the composition. I would indulge in many layers of flute involving Base, Middle and Small pitched flutes. I would indulge in doubling takes, layerings and Panned effects to make the sound more full. I record at 96khz 24 bit and I am well versed with tracking techniques like Gain Staging, Mic Positioning and maintaining a good overall recording quality.
