Marshall Mixing on SoundBetter

My goal with each song I mix is to ensure each musical element sounds as best as possible, and for every song to reach its full potential I do this by working closely with each artist to achieve a balanced mix with a radio-ready polished sound.

Hi there! My name is Brandon, and I am the owner of Marshall Mixing.

You’ve spent a lot of time recording your music. You spent time songwriting, arranging all the instruments, and maybe even spent the time in a professional studio making sure all the elements of your project were recorded properly. And your song sounds good so far, but it doesn’t sound complete. And that’s where I come in.

I have always had a passion for computers and finding out how things work. I was also a huge music fan growing up, seeing hundreds of bands live and listening to all different types of music. I always knew that I wanted to work in the music field when I grew up, and eventually I discovered audio engineering, merging my two passions into one. I graduated college with a degree in Music Technology, where I also received Pro Tools Expert certification, and started Marshall Mixing.

Marshall Mixing is an online mixing studio located in the San Francisco Bay Area. One of the things I love about offering my services online is the ability to connect with musicians from all around the world. I’ve had the opportunity to work with artists from all around the United States, Canada, Spain, and more.

I hope you consider Marshall Mixing to help take your song, EP, or album to the next level.

Brandon's patience is somewhat of a miracle. I was picky in how I wanted the song to turn out and for the (awesome) price he charged for the amount of work he did, he never once displayed an irritation with my requests. The song went through several incarnations with Brandon, getting better and him tailoring the song exactly to my needs each time!

Marshall did a great job turning a 'tin-like' sound into a warm earthy sound on a song I had recorded. Thanks!

Interview with Marshall Mixing

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: My goal with each song I mix is to ensure each musical element sounds as best as possible, and for every song to reach its full potential. I do this by working closely with each artist to achieve a balanced mix with a radio-ready polished sound. I approach each track with a fresh perspective, and give each element of a song the individual attention it needs.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Make sure you take the time to learn an engineer's style before considering them to mix or master your project. If you both have similar style, they will be much easier to work with and it will be much easier for them to help bring your project to its full potential.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I have always had a passion for computers and finding out how things work. I was also a huge music fan growing up, seeing hundreds of bands live and listening to all different types of music. I always knew that I wanted to work in the music field when I grew up, and eventually I discovered audio engineering, merging my two passions into one. I graduated college with a degree in Music Technology in 2013, where I also received Pro Tools Expert certification, and started Marshall Mixing.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I most enjoy working on Rock and Pop songs, but also like working with Rap and R&B. I'm a huge music fan in general, so as long as it's a catchy song, I am willing to work on it!

  • BZG JAMS – MI GENTE IS WANTINGJul 23, 2014

For my latest mix, I had the pleasure of working with BZG Jams, a Latin rock ensemble. This song also features a guitar solo from Carlos “Los” Hernandez, nephew of Carlos Santana. I worked very closely with the band to make sure they got the exact sound they were after. They wanted to stick with the Latin feel, while still giving it a modern edge in the mix. I also focused heavily on the drums and guitars in the track to make sure that all elements could be heard clearly. The band was very happy with the result!
