Interview with Studio ADM Mastering
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: API 2500, sontec eq, Dangerous Compressor, Fairchild,pultec eqp1a
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a music producer more than 20 years ago and then trained as a mastering engineer by chance. Now I started my own business after training for many years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Punchy as hell with a nice warm bottom end
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Sia...I love her music! What an amazing vicksist and song writer
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If you are producing Vocals then get the performance possible. If it takes 20 takes then that’s what it takes! To many times I hear out of tune vocals because of laziness or out of time vocals. This need to be on point or the whole track falls apart
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most genres of dance music but I work on lots of others as well. You can listen to my SoundCloud demo reel to hear my multi genre mastering.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Bringing warmth and vibe and dynamic’s back into digital recordings.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a sonic flavour of vibe, clarity and punch. I also love a very nice big warm bottom end And if it’s super loud you want then I can deliver!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First is always listening to a song that comes in. I need to get a vibe and from it and a feeling of what it may or may it need to become a polished master. Then I’ll dive in and check for any errors that may need addressing before mastering begins.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My mastering studio is a mix a carefully selected gear that gives me the sonic signature that I want and love. It’s a great sounding room that I love to be in everyday!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: All forms of creative music and film inspire me. I love anything sound and music related
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Analog Mastering and stem mastering
