Stupid Genius

Producer + Engineer + Creator

Stupid Genius on SoundBetter

I strive to match "how it sounds in your head" to a release-ready finished product, or perhaps exceed your expectations. As a studio co-owner/operator, I work daily with people of all ages and walks of life. My 20+ year background as a musician, film/TV composer, producer, songwriter, DJ, and recording/mix engineer gives me a unique understanding.

I automatically develop relationships with clients and artists. My awareness comes from my continued success as a music creation, development, and refinement machine. I have gained mastery of multiple roles and will confidently guide to you and work with you on a project you can be proud of. I feel comfortable operating while wearing multiple hats if requested, yet know how to play one position on a team and truly be a team player. Whether you need a Producer in the truest sense of the word, or a beat/instrumental of any style or genre, or mixing/mastering, studio services, songwriting, reference vocals for something you wrote, I am comfortable accepting projects of all sizes. As a studio owner, I have access to and good working relationships with musicians and music professionals. I'm accountable to you. Let's collab and create something permanently great!

Interview with Stupid Genius

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Thanks for reminding me, brb...

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: I haven't really trolled too much, I'll get back to you if that status ever changes.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Whatever whenever because it sounds right. My background includes many beat battles. Pull a rabbit out of the hat. I respect and appreciate analog, for the right reasons, not because the old engineers escalated through the early hazing years of scrubbing toilets and cutting tape.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I'll literally make them SOUND BETTER than they've ever heard themselves sound before.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: My kids (3 & 6) have already gained the intuition and capacity to understand and meet a vibe, and create synergistically. They're little kids and it blows my mind. I also work with a lot of teenagers. I'm impressed frequently. I'm RARELY otherwise impressed. But truly being connected to the people, the youth, the community 100% through doing good work for people, and really helping people for the sake of them needing just a lil bit of help or guidance or creative ideas or career mapping.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I'm a recording and mix engineer. I mix all client material I record, and mix tracks for clients via session files emailed to me. I am a composer, beatmaker, and producer in the true sense; so, while engineering, the producer within soon inevitably enters the equation. I act as beatmaker/producer for existing clients (and their referrals) in-person, as well as new online clients and those from my existing global network. I often collaborate with clients as songwriter/vocalist/artist and have appeared on subsequent releases. I've been using Logic Pro pretty much everyday since mid-2004, to make beats and record artists on my beats.
