Creative Sparkle, honest sound and a professional environment. I don't brag or shout out brand names or equipment. If it sounds good, it sounds good, I aim to provide a creative friendly edge and offer my own creative ideas if requested, Mixing, Mastering and producing from scratch :)
Hi There, my name is Dan, I’ve been passionate about music all my life, I’ve played in bands and dabbled in production for years, looking to offer a service to artists and producers a like to bring their song to the next level, save them time mixing or mastering, produce for a singer looking for a backing track or just someone looking to collaborate.
I don’t agree with online mixing or mastering as every track is different and more importantly, personal. I want to offer a personal service at a reasonable price as I do it because I love it, not because it’s a job.
Give me a nudge if you’d like to discuss anything, no job too small and no creative task too large and would love to help produce or collaborate.
Send me a note through the contact button above.
Interview with EXI Studios
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both - Analogue when you want to push a signal into crunchy gain and flavour if required and digital for sheer creative options and stereo mid/side processing.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Provide a quick friendly and supporting role in their passion
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Speaking to creative happy people
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: You can just ping it into a piece of online software and its automatically an amazing mastered track - what happens to the passion and thought?
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are the inspirations and what is their favourite sounding track so i can reference the loudness level and dynamics if requested.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Think about what you want your sound to be like and use your heart not other producers or artists - you are your best judge.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Creative, friendly and keen to please.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't overthink - go with your heart
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Country, acoustic, EDM
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Balanced ears and an eye for the unusal approach
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creative input and a passion to help make your sound, your sound - not an engineer who just does the bare minium of what he's paid for - music is important to me and so is the client.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Client request - creative and analytical listening - client feedback - Organisation - process - rest - analytical listening - client feedback -process - deliver
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Custom Built closed back passive speakers - design for a clean well balanced stereo image - I used Proffesional grade room correction to software to further the accuracy of my mixing and mastering. I use Console 1 emulations and Brainworx THD emulation to aspire to the referenced sound a client is requesting - I used analogue compressors, EQ but mainly stick to UAD and other pro grade Software for audio editing due to the more accurate control.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing Mastering and creative remixes
