His passion for music took root early—he wrote his first song at just 13, inspired by the classic rock, folk, and indie sounds that shaped his youth. As he grew, Ahern immersed himself in the world of music production. He worked in audio at a local production house in Baltimore, gaining hands-on experience in recording, mixing, and engineering. At the same time, he played in various bands around town, sharpening his songwriting and learning the intricacies of live performance. These experiences deepened his understanding of sound and arrangement, ultimately shaping his approach to music. Now based in Los Angeles, Ahern built his homebase, Desert Moon Recordings, where he mixes, produces, and collaborates with various artists. His deep love for analog recording and warm, organic soundscapes is evident in his work, whether he’s crafting his own records or helping others bring their musical visions to life. Dougy blends americana elements, often exploring themes of nostalgia, resilience, and personal growth. His dedication to both songwriting and production has earned him a reputation for authenticity and craftsmanship, making him a respected figure in the indie music scene.

Dougy is always great to work with in every way, but this particular project featured songwriting at its very finest on a sensitive subject that can easily become cliche.
