Ryan Corn on SoundBetter

I've spent the last 7 years writing, producing and performing as a major label artist. I've had songs in the top 40 (triple A radio) and on the Pat Monahan (Train) show on Sirius XM.

WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?

I specialize in Singer-Songwriter/Indie Pop/Folk

Production: I am a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keys, drum programming). Whether it be creating a track from scratch or adding to your existing elements, I love to add vibe and character to a track to really make it something special!

Songwriting: I'm a strong melody/hook writer and a thoughtful lyricist. I've had songs in the top 40 (triple A radio) and on the Pat Monahan (Train) show on Sirius XM.

Mixing/Editing: The right mix can make or break a song! A good mix provides the appropriate amount of warmth, shine, depth and balance necessary to translate the emotion of a song. I'm happy to provide vocal tuning, drum alignment, etc.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch. When requesting a quote please include as much detail as possible about your song(s). Also, please include a demo, work tape or rough memo of your song if possible.

Contact me through the green button above and let's get to work.

Working with Ryan was everything you would expect from a professional producer-signer at this level. The communication was quick and clear and understood the context of the song. We are very happy with the results and, because of his input, were´re inspired for next projects.
If we are in need of a vocalist or need fresh input form someone we can trust, we know where to go to. Thankyou!

Interview with Ryan Corn

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I'm very proud of my project, MATS. I wrote, performed and produced these songs. I did however pass them off to be mixed by another set of fresh ears. Very proud of these songs and have seen them placed in two TV episodes.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Currently working on a few songs for film/TV. Doing a bit of mixing for remote artists as well.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Keys player, Reed Pittman is a phenomenal instrumentalist and beyond. I trust him with many of my songs. Check him out!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both, analog is fun and tangible. Digital is convenient and quick

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise that you will love the song when we're finished!

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: That every day is different. I love every part of the process... songwriting, pre production, editing, mixing. It's all beautiful

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Without saying it verbally, I think most customers want to know if I can be trusted with their song and money to give them what they want. I realize that I may not be the best producer for every person. If I feel that I am not, I'll be honest and suggest that they try a different producer.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That I'm unorganized. The music industry is full of cancellations, reschedules, non-reply's and delays. This is not me. I'm highly communicative and efficient.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What other artists would live on a playlist with your song?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Find someone who is excited about your song!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Acoustic guitar, drum kit, Roland Juno, laptop and some sort of drum pad

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Originally I was an artist with a major label, Curb Records in Nashville, TN. I soon realized how much of an introvert I am and how much I hate touring, interviews, etc. The studio is where I find my creative freedom and joy. I've been in the music industry for over 10 years.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I love to find the perfect balance of organic and programmed sound in a song.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Jack Antonoff. What a creative and unique guy! He has an amazing sense of both pop and indie music styles.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Know where you're aiming before you shoot. Prepare ahead of time by listening to similar artist, dialing in basic sounds, etc. Choose your colors and envision your painting before you even pick up a brush.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Indie, Pop, Film/TV, Singer-Songwriter, etc.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I think I have a strong sense of melody and rhythm. I love to program drums or work to mix a killer sounding drum kit. Being a vocalist, I think I understand how to produce, edit and mix a compelling vocal track.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I strive to bring a balance of artistic integrity and commercial sensibilities. I believe this balance yields success.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I like to chat with an artist (usually via phone) to make sure I understand what they want and how I can best serve them. Some artists are more hands on whereas others are more dependent upon the creativity and decisions I can bring to the song. I like to discuss genre, song references, etc.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio is a vibey and comfortable space in my home. A few acoustic guitars... a strat, P-bass and an upright piano. I'm surrounded by things that inspire me. It's my happy place!

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm probably most heavily inspired by John Mayer and Michael Jackson... both kings of melody. I love an infectious groove and vibey production.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The bulk of my time is spent writing and producing/mixing for artists all over the country. I also do a lot of creating for film and TV.
