I love working with artists to develop their musical work into a finished product that is ready for the world. I am a songwriter, musician, producer/engineer that deeply desires to tell stories through music. After 26 years of training and experience I have learned that there is always a fresh approach to a song. I'd love to help on your project!

I am a turnkey Musician, Artist, Producer, and Engineer. As an instrumentalist my primary is piano and keys but also have over 15 years experience on acoustic, electric and bass guitars. Drums and Percussion are also in the tool kit. My workspace is a full service recording studio in Houston,TX. I will work on singles, commercial music shorts, film/tv scores and full length albums. For instrumentation, most of the time we will discuss direction for the project/song, vibe, music concepts and how I can help. I will track here in studio and send via internet. I am willing to track a couple different versions and am open to a couple revisions. For mixing, mastering or for full production service contact me and we can discuss your project.

Interview with Chris Cullins

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I own and operate a full size recording studio that has a fantastic control room for mixing and composition, vocal iso, amps iso, a large live/drum room, and a very large (20ft ceilings large) "big room" great for spacious sounds or a large personnel day (orchestra etc). Over the years the gear has become more quality and smaller:) Today's technology allows for high quality audio capture and creation with less racks of gear and less air conditioning needed!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Chad Martin is a killer guitar player in LA and one of my dear friends. He's an amazing collaborator!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! A little life and color from the analog with the precision and speed of digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Satisfaction with a smile. Let's enjoy doing this!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Jack of all master of none:)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask lots of questions! The more we can all get on the same page from the get go the better the product will be!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is piano. Bringing fresh modern piano composition to a song.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Being a utility guy there are many options that I can provide for a song. Whether you need a calm piano track, help writing a song, finishing out the rest of the instrumentation for a radio single, or mixing and mastering, I have experience with each one and can help you.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I want to connect with artist to find out what is the end goal and the heart behind the song or project. Then I will be able to recommend a direction that I can provide the greatest support. If there is already a direction and I am needed to just add a track or musical concept then thats what I'll do. In the end it is all about the song and the experience of finding the best end result for the client/writer.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am constantly listening and learning from so many people talented people in the music creation industry. With todays technology you can connect with and learn from great artist, producers, writers and musicians from around the world.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Its a little different every day! Mostly though quick single tracks of piano and guitar or full band productions of a song idea.
